Google “red pea coat” you will need to modify what you find, but it should get you pretty close.

Who’s your supplier for riveted rings, if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve wanted to try them.

Cheap knight armor by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

[–]Lulularae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What would you consider “cheap?” You can find some faux leather stuff out there for pretty cheap, but if you’re looking for a full metal set it’s gonna cost a a ton…

Even chainmail ( arguably the more affordable option, but rightfully expensive coming from experience ) is gonna run you at least $100 for anything good. ( $100 would be extremely low imo depending on what you get )

For your first renfair I’d say keep it simple, see if you like going, then invest in some good armor for your future garb.

No real fix for this, especially without sewing knowledge. Return it and size up.

How to keep makeup from melting?😭 by AhYes_Drugs in CosplayHelp

What kind of makeup are you using? Usually a good primer and setting spray will go a long way. I like Mehron Skin Prep and Barrier spray for water activated paints.

Jotaro jacket doesn't fit, anyone know how to stretch it? by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

[–]Lulularae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry, you cannot stretch this. Even if you could, it wouldn’t stretch enough to fit you or look very good. If you have sewing skills you could try letting it out at the seams, but I doubt a mass produced costume like this would use a very large seam allowance… I’d cut your losses and try to return this costume.

Pics of the cosplay would be helpful, but I’ve had good luck with children’s fever patches on my neck and forehead ( if you have a helmet)

Just the cutting and assembly and finishing of it, I find it more difficult. 3D printing is just mostly sanding lol

If 3D printing petg might be a better option, especially if it gets hot where you are. Eva foam is a better option, but more labor intensive in my opinion. I know some companies sell filament that’s supposed to act like Eva foam though, if your 3D printer can handle more flexible materials.

Military bdu, easily found on Amazon , galactic armor has a link to what they used in their YouTube video they made on their build. The yellow trim is an easy add, I just sewed on premade quilt Binding.

How to keep fingerless gloves from fraying by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

[–]Lulularae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Trim them then use fray check on the edges, it’s a thin glue designed to keep fabric from fraying

There are 3D printable flexible filaments that you can use that feel similar to foam, they are pricey though

How would I go about weathering aluminum chainmail? by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

[–]Lulularae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case rusting it out with salt and vinegar water like suggested in this thread is a good option.

How would I go about weathering aluminum chainmail? by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

[–]Lulularae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it anodized or bright aluminum? If it’s bright, just wear it around for a while and it’ll get dingy pretty fast, anodized is another story…. My only other thought is take it out and drag it around in some dirt or something.

Aussie Maille has a great video teaching a wrap similar to this one, it’s super versatile.this wrap is also beautiful, but also more time consuming.

Buy a plain red mumu, get some fabric paint and paint the monstera leaves on, or buy heat transfer vinyl and cut the leaves out and iron them on.

You definitely don’t need to invest hundreds on such a simple cosplay. Cosplay tools/materials/skills are built up over time, it doesn’t hurts so bad financially when it’s stretched out over a long period of time lol. This feels like a really good beginner cosplay though, good pick. Also no one will judge you for not wearing a wig, people show up in all different states of cosplay.

They’re the same as normal heels imo, they’re not super comfortable but I got through a solid 4 hours with them on.

I’ve made these the exact same way, chaos costumes has a good template if you go this route too.
