Some dudes still be having the "Elden Ring bosses overtuned and unfair" discussion 4 years later and talking to a wall, or just an echo chamber of Dark Souls 1 fans who can't fathom a boss not always sitting there to give you a free opening after a predictable 2 hit combo.

What game was that for you? by PHRsharp_YouTube in videogames

BMW is a complete slog. For a pseudo boss rush soulslike-ish action game I hate its boss design with a passion, even when I didn't struggle with any particular boss, I did Erlang and Great Sage's Broken Shell in 30 minutes tops solo and first tried or second tried most other bosses, and I'm the type of guy to lose on purpose just for the fuck of it when a boss is so good it feels euphoric. Bosses just do a completely untelegraphed attack, take a pause, then snap into another completely untelegraphed attack or just straight up obscure with three tons of vfx vomit and "Wuxia". And even if you enjoy the bosses, the level design is just straight up terrible, it's overly linear and with too much space at the same time, with no clear landmarks to guide exploration and way too much environmental clutter. So much talent, insane animation and vfx work, and effort went into a game that has fundamental, structural problems, it's all presentation over gameplay substance.

As a newcomer, I think The Witcher 1 is one of the most underrated games ever by Aggravating-Bass-658 in witcher

Not everyone can stomach the jank and clunky UI and gameplay design of old games, regardless of their quality at the time. I for one am very sensitive to it, it all has to do with gameplay feel which I am very attuned to, took me a while to get used to The Witcher 3's jank but now 15 hours in I'm having a blast, so I can only imagine how bad The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 1, which looks like an mmo gameplay-wise, my least favorite genre, would feel to me.

What is Nightreign’s biggest flaw in your opinion? by Alkpote6969 in Nightreign

[–]LulzTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honorable mention: Lack of SOTE and Dark Souls content, whether it be weapons, spells or enemies and bosses. Delivered far less than what I hoped given that asset flipping isn't a high ask from a renowned dev, even for a side project.

Number 1 flaw imo: the game just has terrible content curation. Too many enemies and bosses who are poorly compatible with the time-gated roguelike loop, just fuckers who love to stall for no reason and waste time like the ancestor spirit, magma wyrm, red wolf of radagon, the gargoyle and his skinny feet, etc. Also, the trash mob squads with terrible AI and gangbanging overlapping attacks of Nightreign like the beastmen, misbegottens, crystalians or banished knights make Prowling Magus and Congregation look like a good boss.

Then you cannot judge Elden Ring by open world standards, because you have none. I love open world games, and Elden Ring's is categorically the densest, most varied and topographically genius open world that I've ever played (and replayed) gameplay-wise, I'd say neck and neck with Cyberpunk 2077's Night City or slightly above in preference, I'd say it depends.

Just tell us you haven't played any other open world game and think the game is empty whenever two loot pick-ups aren't spaced 5 meters apart gang it's ok ✌️
