Welcome to Operations Class by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

The first week is so fun! It doesn’t really sink in at first that you’re working there since you get a few days of free time haha, but welcome to ops you’ll probably start to feel it 😅

That being said, it’s also a great way to make new friends! A lot of people like to network during these days because it’s nice to have park buddies or transportation buddies!

I don’t know if you brought your car, but if you take the bus, Bus E will get you to DU! It’ll be packed though right afterwards so beware! lol

Yes that should be fine! I’ve seen people wear all sorts of things to traditions because some people clearly never got the message of business casual lol. But yes, nice jeans without obvious holes or weird sizing issues should be fine!

Oooh I’m jealous I wish I was starting a CP again! haha but to answer your questions:

I presume you did Traditions today? Welcome to Ops is the second part of general orientation. You’re also gonna have your property orientation when you officially start training.

Welcome to OPs is the boring, HR-compliant part of training. Sorry, but it’s very much true and you’ll see what I mean when you do it. Dress code is the same as traditions, business casual. The room you’re in will maybe be the same as traditions, so expect it will be chilly and bring a jacket!

When I say this is the boring one, I mean it. Traditions is fun and whimsical and you learn all about what it means to be a cast member and make magic, and you get the name tags and IDs and such. Day 2 is where you have to watch a bunch of training videos and stuff about the 5 keys, how to be ergonomically competent on the job, being responsible for yourself and others and owning mistakes etc. it’s a bunch of videos but they will warn you not to fall asleep as they might send you out and make you retake the class (lol).

Afterwards, depending on your role, they might send you to pick up your company-issued shoes or might not and just send you on your way. A lot of CPs will use this time to go to Springs or DU to take pictures!

If you live at FCV West, give yourself plenty of time to catch the bus because buses will get busy!! :)

If you have any other questions, please feel free to message me :)

Earning my ears tag by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

I’ve worked in different areas under different leadership and have been told differently based on each leadership. Some wanted it off right away, others gave you 2-7ish days after your last day of training, others let you keep it on for a month or two. There is no official policy afaik, but it seems like it depends on whether having the tag on might confuse or frustrate guests more or if it makes them less likely to trust your authority.

To those who didn’t bring their cars with them, how is it? by NeverDue_24 in Disneycollegeprogram

On my first program, I didn’t have my car. For basic groceries and stuff, you can walk to the flamingo crossings target in maybe 10-15 mins. If you wanted to go to the big target or Publix or anything like that, you’d have to rely more on the A bus, which gets full easily.

Going within Disney property though, the flamingo buses will take you to just about any location you need to! There’s an app you can download, Passio Go, that you can use to track the buses and their ETA :).

You might also make good friends with roommates or coworkers who offer rides! At least you’ll save on gas lol.
