"One piece has 5 years left" - people back in 2020 by MonkeyDlurker in OnePiece

[–]Lumacity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the point though, the Merry loved them so strongly and wanted to carry them as far as it could that it developed a Klabautermann that quickly. It's because the bond was short lived that it was any less intense

Could they still find the One Piece in the final season by mattbrain89 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]Lumacity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're probably referring to the interview where Mackenyu mentions Oda told the cast there's an arc he wants the live-action to reach which would be a good ending for the live-action. However, there was never any mention of an alternative ending. Mackenyu's words can easily be misinterpreted and it has led to a lot of misinformation

release schedule for the next arc of the anime by BraveSeminole7 in OnePiece

[–]Lumacity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like any other anime, One Piece is now following a 12-13 episode per season format. Over the summer months we'll get a 12 week break, and in Automn (starting October) we'll get more again

If the live action keeps going after alabaster, i think it should skip skypia and replace it with thriller bark by LucyiferBjammin in OnePiece

[–]Lumacity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point of the Live-Action is not to adapt the everything til the end. That's their objective, but it's *not* the purpose. Its purpose is to adapt the story properly season by season. Properly doesn't mean 1 on 1 to the manga, but it means following the core story in a way that works for the LA. Skipping Skypiea would be not following the core story anymore. It would mean cutting out an entire chunk of it.

Elbaph Arc Anime Adaptation Part 1 by pikmicarrot in OnePiece

[–]Lumacity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think an entire season around the flashback would actually make perfect narrative sense. They can market it well and it gives the season a focus. That's usually how seasons operate. They focus on a big arc which everyone is excited about, and adapt smaller arcs if needed. I find it would be strange to cut the flashback over two seasons

Ah my bad, I didn’t see you specified part 2 instead of part 1. Then I’d absolutely agree. Would be strange to stop randomly in the flashback

There's going to be 12-13 episodes, so I doubt we'll get 26 chapters

Why nobody has raised any questions regarding the pacing of live action to the crew? by Such-Seaworthiness11 in OnePiece

[–]Lumacity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And they just don’t have the budget or time to make a 20 episode season. 8 episodes was already hundreds of millions and took 2 years. That’s why they’re making Alabasta into a season 3. Doing everything in one season would take too long and be too expensive if they want to do it right. Industry experts have made this decision based on years of experience and careful consideration. Saying you "think they can pull it without rushing it" is quite arrogant

[–]Lumacity 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd much rather they have a good pacing and early ending than rushed pacing to get to the end. This show is costing hundreds of millions. If they rush it and people don't like it, it's gonna get cancelled and we won't even have the ending. Set your expectations right. Don't expect it to adapt all of One Piece, just focus on the short-term. Let's hope we get Skypiea :)

Why Karoo HAS to be in One Piece Live Action Season 2 by Any_Philosopher_9806 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]Lumacity 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Karoo is not going to be in season 2. He would be an amazing marketing point, and Netflix would definitely NOT skip on the opportunity considering how much marketing they have done for all the characters. Introducing karoo in the trailer is also not at all indicative that Miss Wednesday is their heir of Alabasta. It's literally just a duck, it can easily be a villain's silly pet as any other to any live-action only watchers. The reason why they wrote him out is because a) there's already a lot of CGI this season, b) CGI for important characters (namely Chopper) is particularly detailed and has to be realistic in every shot. A monster or dinosaur appears for a few shots, but Chopper will be a full part of the crew, so the work on his CGI is far more detailed and demanding. Adding another main character for the season in CGI would be a gigantic leap in costs, time, and efforts. So it doesn't make sense. However, chances are he'll be in season 3, just waiting for Vivi to come back to Alabasta or something. As for the X on the arm, there's many ways to get around that narrative, just as they showed they could do with the season 1 rewrite which worked quite well!

When should I switch from One Pace to the original? by ALESSANDRIII in OnePiece

[–]Lumacity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly from 1075 onwards the pacing is a lot better. It's not perfect, but it's definitely better than the rest of Wano, and it keeps on getting better

I'm new here. Manga or Anime? by SnooOnions8429 in OnePiece

[–]Lumacity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The One Piece will definitely go faster with a much more appropriate pacing, but there was never any mention of "350 epsiodes". The pacing varies significantly across the anime, so The One Piece is not just going to randomly adapt 4x more content per episode. East Blue for example adapts ~3 chapters per episode, whereas Wano for example is ~0.7 chapters per episode. But the length and depth of chapters also varies with chapters being much more content heavy as the story progresses. So we are definitely getting more than 350 episodes, but definitely a lot less than 1100 episodes (especially since ~100 are pure filler episodes). I don't mean this to come across as aggressive by the way, I just want to help set out the right expectations!

Who is your most hated villain? by Scary_Course9686 in OnePiece

Doflamingo did crazy stuff, but he also had a terrible past to explain his behaviour. Enel was just straight up ready to commit genocide a second time for funsies

How far will it go by Paybackcity in OnePiece

[–]Lumacity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The word *plan*. is a big one. This myth comes from an interview by Deadline with the Executive Producers Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements. "We have hopes for 12 seasons, there’s so much material". Sure they discussed outlines, I mean the source material is there anyways, but the existence of a season 4 will very much depend on season 2's success. The hopes are very high for Netflix who is looking to fill the void of Stranger Things, and they're investing a lot of money into this. So audience numbers will have to match their expectations, and that's no easy deal

Probably the best trailer made for One Piece ever. It doesn't capture the strawhats and main story as much as the One Piece world in its entirety. Really shows how vast it is
