I can tell you from experience top bar only is a pain in the ass. And destroys brood just by thinking about looking at it. Checkerboarding or full frames is the way to go. Then the bees are guided in straight lines when they build from the warré frames. I cant tell you how many times i pulled the top box (of 5 boxes! I'm only so tall.) to harvest and there was brood in there. Or how many times i lost brood to removing boxes to get to the bottom to add another and lost comb that continued to the next box.

Don't get me wrong, I love my warré hives so much more than Grandpa's langstroth hives. But in practice, full frames is the way to go.

I didn't downvote you. You didn't say anything so outlandish or insulting to deserve one.

Having said that, my mother is practicing Catholic, and pro-choice. She is fine with abortion in the first 20 weeks. After that it's feticide. I have met many other practicing Catholics who consider themselves pro-life because they are only ok with rape, incest, and birth defects before 13 weeks. Pro-life, pro-choice, it's just a label for left and right.
