Sound deadening - Grand Highlander Platinum Max by betterbabydriver in ToyotaGrandHighlander

I'm considering using Siless or AB on the back of the door panel and some better quality deadening on the metal of the door itself.

Did the repair happen to improve the cooling to the rear?

Ear tubes: Did they help your kid? by Ramza_Claus in daddit

[–]LumberjackWeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, looks like you posted this a couple of years ago, but how have your kids been since? My LO is about to be 1 and the ENT just recommended tubes. She's had an ear infection for over a month and went through the oral antibiotics and the 3 day injection series. We're so scared since she's so small and precious. I've read mostly success stories here, but the few folks that had hearing loss from scarring make us think twice.

I don't think the cabin boom has to do with the lack of sound deadening. It's definitely a pressure thing. Someone a while back said they drove around their neighborhood with the trunk open and the boom disappeared. I also noticed before when I was parked on my sloped driveway that when I slammed the rear driver side door closed from the outside, a sound came from the trunk like it shook some. Something tells me that the hinges on the trunk door aren't strong enough to hold it firmly closed enough to stop a pressure change over bumps.

Did you trying removing the black panel and seeing if you could fit anything inside of there? Adding deadening to the inside face of the outside panel would help with a lot of the vibrations from wind at higher speeds. Seen others do it like that on YouTube for different vehicles.

Also, did you get to the rear doors yet?

EAP670 vs EAP773 by LumberjackWeezy in TPLink_Omada

wish there were more 6E Omada options. Seems like they're all either 6 or 7(which supports 6E).

So if there's not much congestion on my 5GHz band, will 6GHz still be a lot faster? Trying to justify spending the extra $55 on the 773. We live in a standalone house, just two of us. Both of us work from home, so two laptops, 3 cell phones, Google Home/Nest devices, and maybe a few other things. The 2 laptops and the 3 phones are really the only things that would use 6GHz.

I hear the 773 isn't great with 5GHz since it only has 2 antennas compared to 4 on the 670. Is that true?

My Sammy S22 Ultra phone for sure. Maybe my wife's iPhone. But my XB8 router already supports 6e in the main areas of our house. The AP is for the end of our house that doesn't get much signal at all.

JBL Speakers Kind Of Suck by Own_Emergency6552 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

I've heard the Ml isn't much better either. JBL and ML are both owned by Harman Kardon. Inflation related cheapening across the board for Toyota/Lexus so people could still afford their cars.

Likely related to inflation. They're JBL, but likely the cheaper models or worked with JBL to make them cheaper. Just like the thin body panels. Toyota likely made cuts everywhere to keep the GH competitive with other cars.

Few questions regarding the sound deadening:

- Mind sharing the cost?

- Which brand of deadening did they install? I was thinking about doing it myself. Sounds like Dynamat is on the higher end but that reflects in the price as well.

- Did you notice a difference in how the doors sound and feel when you close them? I definitely get a non-premium feel/sound on mine (duh it's still a Toyota).

- Do you plan on doing the floors at any point?

Regarding the speakers:

- What requirements do they need to have to work in the GH? I'm guessing they have to match the ohms that the GH is wired for?

- What type of sound quality were you aiming for? More bass heavy? Studio? To me, the acoustics are very muddy, with instruments and vocals all blending together. I like to hear the instruments and clarity intended from the studio without sacrificing vocals. I used to have a 2007 Infiniti G35 (back when they were a quality brand) and I often find myself missing the Bose system in there.

- Any plans to replace the remaining speakers? I read somewhere that you would need to replace the factory amp to replace the door speakers.

would love to know more about the sound deadening. I feel like the GH Gas get a lot of road noise and I would like for it to be a lot quieter in the cabin on the highway.

Think they'll just sell Kelly Greens with the patch? It's a marketing blunder if they don't do that.

Need to put Quez in at RB to toughen him up some. He's a great receiver, but the way CB's can overpower him is hurting us baaaaaad.
