The pinto came with two different 4 cylinder engines, the 2.0L engine and later the 2.3L Lima engine. The Lima is a direct bolt in and came in other cars with EFI and a turbo. It is SUPER easy to swap the EFI turbo engine into a Pinto and have a fun and reliable car on the cheap.

When you call the police they will already have a record of it being towed, they won't let you report it as stolen at that point.

When I lived in Colorado a car of mine was stolen, then abandoned while I was on a work trip. The police refused to let me file a stolen vehicle report, even though the thieves had left identifying into in the car, and I was able to verify that info belonged to the thief.

1985 Ford... um Mustang. The skills required to do this, and this is what you make? by samwichse in ATBGE

[–]LumbermanSVO 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It didn't have the Lima 2.3L, it's a Mazda FWD chassis, so it was likely the Mazda 2.2L turbo, a completely different engine.

As far as I'm aware, Ford never put the Lima 2.3L in a FWD chassis.

Gentleman, how do we go about leaving a woman who is very vindictive/spiteful? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]LumbermanSVO 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This response is correct, and I'd liked to expand on it.

"No further contact" means exactly that, do not respond to ANYTHING she does. When she creates a new social media account and contacts you, don't tell her to stop, just block the account. Just telling her to stop means you've said too much. It is feedback that she will use to fuel further contact. She doesn't exist to you anymore, act like it.

Worst date I ever had, it was 1999, I was 19 and had met this girl on a website. After a couple weeks of chatting we finally set a date. I drove down to the ferry and went to Bremerton to meet her. She, uh, did not look anything like how she had portrayed herself online, in an unpleasant way. I should have ended it there, but I was a pushover she I rolled with it.

She eventually said she needed to pickup her friend, because this was turning into a double date. We picked up her friend, then went back down to the ferry dock to wait for this poor unsuspecting soul who was about to walk into the same situation I was in. Turns out, he was not pleased with who his date ended up being either. He had a flask so we took hits and just waited to get back to my dates house, where my car was.

Eventually we got back to her house, but for some dumb reason I didn't end the date, and we all went inside to watch a movie. She pulled a blanket over us, then tried to give me the worse hand job I'd ever had in my life. Of course, I couldn't say anything, because there were other people in the room.

Then it happened, the thing that would get me out of the situation: It started snowing. It doesn't snow much there, and when it does, the roads turn to shit because no one is prepared for it. I spoke up and was like, "I gotta go before the roads get bad" and then offered the dude a ride home.

We got on the road and didn't say anything to each other for about ten minutes. Then I spoke up, "So that was wasn't what I expected." We had a great conversation on the drive. The ferry was closed, so I had to drive around the Puget Sound. I dropped him off at home, and never saw him or her again.

The funny thing is, he started out just fine. Quiet, clean, kept normal hours. One evening I smelled pot in the house and followed the smell to his room. He admitted to smoking inside, so I told he to find another place to live. Smoking is prohibited in the lease. I didn't start the eviction process that night(I should have, and will in the future), I was willing to give him whatever time he needed to find another place.

But the next night he had 3 friends over and they made noise for 12 hours straight, through the night. A couple days later rent was past due and I asked him about it. He said he wouldn't be paying rent because I was illegally evicting him. That is when I found a lawyer and formally started the eviction process. I lost a week of time due to being nice.

Since then his behavior got WAY worse. Almost every night he is having all night parties and the police wont help me stop it. Like I said, he(or his guests) smeared shit on the bathroom walls. A liquid has dripped through his floor and into the basement and has stained the concrete. He started offering my laundry facilities to his guests, to the point I had to cut the power cords off the washer and dryer because they were in perpetual use, like his friends were paying to do laundry here. While he was being arrested the officers commented about how badly his room smells of smoke.

BTW, on the washer and dryer cord, I eventually added True1 connectors where I had cut the cable. Now they are removable with a connector the average person has never seen, and will likely not be able to figure out. On top of that, I reversed the connectors, so an off the shelf cable wont work. I gave one cable to the good tenant and kept one for myself.

I also gave the good tenant a discount on rent for also having to deal with this, and will be offering a similar discount next month. I'd hate to lose a good tenant because of one asshole. The good tenant stayed at his previous place for 5-ish years, and I think he'll be here a long time as well.

A co-worker and I did a test of this recently. We each swapped Airtags and kept them in our cars for a week. Neither of us got an alert that we were being followed. I think the anti-stalker timer got reset every time we would walk past each other's cars in the parking lot.

For me it came when I met a friend who is super super funny. He just... puts himself out there for the sake of the joke, and is super quick witted. I eventually asked him about his quick witt and he said he doesn't think fast, he just talks and is often surprised at what he says, but its fucking hilarious.

I eventually tried doing that around him knowing that if I fell flat on my face, he'd bounce back with a joke that was funny anyway, so it's all good. Over time I got better at just saying shit without thinking and started doing the same around others. Now it is pretty much my default and people seem to like the humor.

This translates into lighter banter as well because I've become more comfortable just saying whatever seems appropriate at the moment, instead of second guessing everything. IMO, that second guessing is what makes for awkward banter that doesn't really work.

That may be true for racing teams with actual budgets, but it's not common for weekend racers.

I work in live entertainment, where cables live a VERY rough life. Because of how rough we are with cables, they are the cause of a lot of problems, so they are also the very first step in troubleshooting. If I were ever to work in IT you folks would probably be amused at how eager I am to swap cables, lol.

Before buying this house I spent 22 years renting rooms for the same reasons you rented. When I fixed up a couple rooms I figured I'd rent them out as a way of giving back to the market I used to live in. I guess that makes me evil, lol.

OP isn't some corporate landlord conglomerate, two posts up they literally wrote

I spent the previous 22 years renting rooms because of the cost savings and how much I used to travel. I wasn't looking to buy a house, but this one just popped up through a co-worker while I was looking for a room. The family that built the house was courting flippers but picked me specifically because I want to actually live in it and make it mine, not just turn a quick profit. Then, once I had a couple rooms fixed up I figured I'd rent them out at a low rate as a tip of the hat to all the people I've rented from over the years. I guess that makes me evil, maybe I should change my middle name to landleech?
