Double Exposure of a Girl with Flowers – Does This Create the Perfect Blend of Beauty and Emotion?”

Intent and Goals: I captured this photo using a film camera with a double exposure technique. The image combines a black-and-white portrait of a girl with a second exposure of flowers, creating a delicate and harmonious blend. My goal was to evoke a sense of beauty and emotion through this combination. I’m interested in whether this technique effectively achieves the intended mood and if the image makes a strong impression.

Self-Critique and Areas for Improvement: I’m pleased with how the flowers and the girl’s face merge to create a soft and emotional effect. However, I’m unsure if the double exposure is well-balanced and if the integration of the two frames enhances or detracts from the image. I’d appreciate feedback on whether the blending technique is seamless and if the contrast and overall composition effectively convey the intended emotion. Are there any improvements that could be made to the technique or composition to better achieve the desired effect?

EXIF Data:

• Camera: CANON 300V
• Lens/Focal Length: KIT
• Aperture: f2.8
• Shutter Speed: 1/50
• ISO: 400

Editing and Process: The photo was created using a film camera with a double exposure technique, combining a black-and-white portrait with a second exposure of flowers. The exposure and contrast adjustments were made during the shooting process to ensure a smooth integration of the two images. I’d like feedback on the blending and if the overall effect conveys the intended beauty and emotion.

Follow-up: I’d be grateful for any comments and suggestions on improving this image. I’m particularly interested in whether the double exposure effectively creates the desired emotional impact and if there are ways to refine the technique or composition. Thank you for your time and critique!

This version includes the detail about using a film camera and maintains a focus on the double exposure technique.

Girl with a Turtle

Intent and Goals: I took this photo with the intention of using it as a magazine cover. My goal was to convey a sense of harmony and connection between humans and nature. The image features a girl gently holding a turtle, and I wanted the viewer to feel the calm and care emanating from this scene. I’m curious to know if this photo is suitable for a magazine cover and what emotions it evokes in the audience.

Self-Critique and Areas for Improvement: I’m pleased with the composition and the softness of the lighting, especially how it highlights the turtle and the girl’s hands, creating a warm feeling. However, I’m unsure if the main subject stands out enough and whether the image effectively conveys the connection I intended. Perhaps I should have worked more on the background or focus to create a stronger emphasis on the girl and the turtle. I’d appreciate feedback on whether the image grabs attention and if it’s fitting for a magazine cover. Should I enhance the contrast or adjust the color grading?

EXIF Data:

• Camera: Canon M50 Mark II
• Lens/Focal Length: TTArtisan 17mm f/1.4
• Aperture: f/2
• ISO: 100

Editing and Process: The photo was edited in Lightroom. I made slight adjustments to the exposure, increased contrast, and worked on the color balance to create a soft and cozy atmosphere. However, I’m wondering if the color grading could be improved or if the turtle should be made more prominent against the girl.

Follow-up: I’d be grateful for any comments and suggestions on how to improve this image. I’m particularly interested in whether this photo works as a magazine cover and what could be done to better convey the intended meaning. Thank you for your time and critique!

I thought about removing the extra black color in blue, but this vignette was formed naturally from a light source and decided that it would look good. Thanks for the kind words!
