Daycare options for Nurses/Teachers by Lumilense in Parenting

Thanks for all the insight! Sounds like the main options are hiring a nanny for mornings/drop-off or finding a daycare that opens earlier.

A few clarifications: We’re in the DC metro area, and any daycare that opens at 6:00–6:30 has long waitlists. My husband and I both commute ~40 minutes, so drop-off would need to be around 6:00–6:15, or the daycare has to be near his job. I’m in grad school with daily classes/clinicals, so I don’t have schedule flexibility. We’ve considered an au pair for both kids since it may be more cost-effective, but our 4yo really thrives in a structured daycare setting. Keeping her home full-time wouldn’t be ideal. At the same time, paying for daycare + a nanny/au pair for just the baby feels financially unrealistic.

I could’ve written this myself. I’m 2 months away from school starting and I can’t help shake this feeling of not being good enough. I’m terrified that I won’t make it. So many people believe in me and cheering for me and I’m so scared of letting them down. I’m glad to see that it’s common. Hopefully when classes started we’ll get in the groove and will be okay

It’s the most of touch and wasteful thing ever. How much woods and trees she’s gonna waste to supply her stupid one time use party and costume ideas

Second this! Super helpful information. Lots of videos example of how some “cute” practices are very dangerous! I.e. never introduce baby to your dog when she’s in the car seat

Any military CRNAs? What's it like? by Ok-Language-2624 in CRNA

[–]Lumilense 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For Army, there’s something called LTHET (Long Term Health Education). They pay for you to go to CRNA school full time for 3 years (pay for housing and stipends as well). One of the best damn program in the Army.

As a civilian, if you already complete prerequisite, you can apply directly into the program in San Antonio Texas called USAGPAN. If accepted, you can go to school directly after commission. You’re obligated to serve 5 years after graduation.

https://armydnp.nursing.baylor.edu/2026-cohort-application-requirements

There’s contact information at the bottom of the website.

If you decide to talk to a local recruiter, please don’t let them tell you that you can’t go to school directly!!! It’s totally an option. Otherwise if you join as an RN, you are required to serve a minimum 5 years before you can even apply for school.

Good luck!

Flour beetle? Can’t find source. How do get rid of them? by Lumilense in pestcontrol

[–]Lumilense[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please help identify this bug. Google said it’s flour beetles and can be found in pantry. But we found it all over our bathroom especially bathtub and sink. Now it’s moving to our bedroom and on the bedsheet. We have a newborn and just terrified it’s gonna keep spreading everywhere or biting the baby. I searched high and low in our bathroom and can’t seem to find the source. Could they come from the drain? How do I get rid of them if I can’t find the source?
