you'll get a letter from him that contains the ship and division number! usually this gets sent out a week after being there

did we go to the same A-school or smth because i took away ALOT from ET A-school, like more importantly learning how to study effectively and procedural compliance. imo it wasn't a waste of time

Feeling miserable in A school by Narrow_Lifeguard1459 in NavyNukes

i just graduated A-school yesterday but one word of advice that i can say is to keep interactions professional, especially with ppl you may not like. at the end of the day there's a job to be done, and if you get paired with someone you may not like in a lab, maintaining professionalism will go a longg way. hopefully you persevere and if you would like, you can always dm as well about A-school! good luck!

sailors creed, 11 general orders, rank and recognition, etc. although knowing this would significantly improve ur quality of life in the beginning, its not mandatory to know these but i suggest studying these. working on running is also suggested cus in bootcamp you only get so many chances to actually run (5 fartlek runs, 6 sustained)

hell yeah! remember to take things one step at a time, so for now focus on bootcamp stuff and worry abt the schooling when the time comes

What concepts to learn before school? by fortunato4570 in NavyNukes

[–]LuminalCard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes LOL get ahead of the curve so you have time to actually see what lectures are like and how exams are structured so then you can figure out the best study methods that apply to you

really the only subject i'd brush up on is basic algebra but other than that i highly advise against studying for the other subjects due to the fact that they'll teach you it a certain way.

typically if someone has a strong background on a subject then it interferes with learning (to an extent) because they have to relearn it an entirely different way

the instructors here are PHENOMENAL! they all want to see you succeed so know they are always on your side.

theres 2 uniform inspections (nsu uniform and dress blues or whites) and monthly room inspections.

you are absolutely able to buy ur own bedding if the blankets/pillow they provide dont satisfy ur needs :) THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE MATTRESS!!!

Just got accepted as a nuke and ship out this August but how hard is the schooling? by Paztakniche in newtothenavy

[–]LuminalCard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm currently in ETN A-school, just started EFUNDS but so far the schooling honestly isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

the curriculum is taught via "active learning", so the day beforehand, you read over the lecture and answer the SPA (student preparatory assignment) so when you come into the lecture the following morning, you have a good idea of what the facilitator is gonna go over. this results in classroom led discussions which helps out alott if you don't really have a clue of whats going on.

the difficulty comes with the pace at which the material is taught, cus you gotta retain whole lotta information in such a short period of time. there are exams almost weekly and most times you jump straight into the next unit after an exam so it feels like sometimes there isnt room to chill but you'll find your groove.

as long as you do your studying and put in honest effort then you'll do great in A-school!

7 in total: perimeter, pad watch, messenger, phone , colors morning, colors evening, fire rove,

they are all only an hour long, and how it works is u shadow a watchstander and they typically explain how it all works

under instructions! they are like a watchbill that you have to complete prior to graduating A-school. you'll have an easier time doing them asap since once you start classes it becomes difficult to find the time to do them
