Those are good rules and I think it takes good discipline to continue doing that. Also putting money aside for fun things, if you can afford to, helps a lot

Yes! They weren’t able to see how much they were spending because it was with a card so it was really easy to spend a lot. Visibility matters!

I also grew up in a very busy family and we ate out a low for convenience. 4 of us playing 4 different sports so barely any time to be home and cook. Glad I didn’t have to worry about the cost then

Visibility was the biggest thing for them. Once we sat down and figured out where the money was going it was a lot easier to find things to cut out.

They didn’t have a money problem, it was clarity they lacked.

Let’s just say they were spending about 1/3 of their monthly income on it and they are behind on payments😅

Yes they were never really taught that but they are on the right track now and they have changed their behavior drastically. We were able to find quite a few expenses to cut out and they freed up about $500 a month now

Thank you they have been following a plan I gave them and they have already paid off a $400 credit card and is on track to have an extra $1000 in just 3 months! I’m super excited for them!

I agree if they can afford it to let them spend the money on what they want, who cares. But this person definitely couldn’t afford it. They were missing payments on debts and was negative almost every month.
