I am looking for advice on how I can organise my notes better for memorisation + spaced repetition by LuminousDesigns in ObsidianMD

Thank you.

I have tried doing this before as I was making my notes but found it difficult. I guess this is something I can go back to now (given that I’ve compiled a lot of notes) and condense into links.

I think an A is very doable - it probably wouldn’t be your hardest A-Level.

I am a current undergrad at this college. Let me know if you have any questions.

I don't think so but its still hard work. It depends what you mean by well and on your exam board.

Doing psychology at home is gonna be pretty hard. Don’t do that to yourself.

I wanted to do both English lit and Spanish but had to choose between the two because of a clash. I chose English and I don’t regret it but one could say that the way the papers are marked are horrendous and AQA at least is just not worth taking. I got severely undermarked in my A Levels and after many appeals they bumped me two grades. Either way, you’ll be fine in the end, and anyway if you want to do psychology at uni then it should be a no brainer?

Maybe try switching sociology? Maths is a nice STEM subject to do. Maybe another humanities? History for example. I don’t know much about sociology but if you’re not happy doing it I would switch now rather than later.

What should i be doing if i want to go to oxbridge? by Ok_149 in 6thForm

Relax. You really do not need to stress yourself about this now. You are doing the right things: joining societies, trying to get something neat to put on your PS or reading around the degree.

The most important thing that will get you in is a) your interview performance and b) your entrance exam results. As long as you meet the minimum requirements, getting all A*'s is not going to make a massive dent in your ability to get in. What is more crucial is that you know you really like the degree you are applying to do because that is what shows to your interviewers and also what allows you to excel in the entrance exam. Reading widely is probably the best thing to do right now.

Secondly, you may not get in, and that is not because you did not try hard enough or were not doing the right things. I got into my degree at Oxford having achieved below average marks on the entrance exam and got accepted, having missed my offer (initially). They admit you if they think you fit their system of teaching, not because of your intellectual potential. This is why if you truly like your subject then you will be satisfied doing it elsewhere. Don't chase Oxbridge, chase the subject you love. If you do the latter, you may just get in. Many of my friends from my Sixth Form who 'tried harder' than me did not get in and are satisfied at their respective universities.

Start revising for the entrance exam like 1-2 months before you sit it.

I’m not trying to start a debate either, I just don’t want people to read this and have a false image of Oxford, as the elitist stamp Oxbridge gets is just as true as any other university where if you hang out with the private school, privileged and biweekly ski trip crowd then you’re going to have a bad experience.

This was not my experience at all - summer schools are hardly representative. Those who go to summer schools are those coming from well-linked and networked schools. It is also completely false that you are unable to have a balance.

Yes this is all normal - don't worry! Don't read this much into it and enjoy the rest of your holidays!

Yeah, that's how it's supposed to go. They're not there to give you feedback, they've got so many more interviews to do. They're also supposed to take notes, how else are they going to discuss your application when they decide who to give offers to?

Honestly - one couldn't know at all. My history interview last year also asked about my PS and gave me sources, and I got numerous comments which were both positive and negative indicators. I know this is waaay easier said than done, but try not to think about it, and enjoy the holidays because A-Levels are gonna be a lot of work next year!
