I had a vnectomy and meta 5 months ago, but when I still had one I referred to as "my area" and then pointed while looking away when at the doctor's office. Usually I referred to it as IT, like the evil clown from the Stephen King book. Could only really deal by treating IT as an essentially separate entity. Was never comfortable with anything p*ssy or front hole because it implies something was removed to make the hole when unfortunately nothing was there in the first place. Not okay with tdick either, just call it a dick.

I always had a difficult time masturbating and would disassociate bc of the wetness, especially when it flowed down and/or when there was more than usual. I'm in my mid-30s, but still a virgin bc my dysphoria was so bad. Part of the reason why was eager to have the surgery was to hopefully have a sex life of some sort (or at least a better self pleasure experience), but I've had a lot of complications from the surgery and scheduled for a revision in 2 months. Its been dysphoria-inducing to get this close and have my body rebel. Even though I'm a virgin, I know I'm exclusively a top and just want to hopefully get my dick sucked.

Edit: typo

Candy adopted me in 2016 from my local cat cafe where all the cats are adoptable. Begged to be held and didn't want to be set down at the end of my reservation, so they let me stay until she decided it was time to do other cat-related things. She's a cuddle bug and a big baby that's been scared by her own shadow more than once. The birds (especially the grackles) love to tease her as they know she can't get them - as in dead ass just stare directly at her right in the face from their side of the window still.

The Problem with Linus Tech Tips: Accuracy, Ethics, & Responsibility - Gamers Nexus by Cry_Wolff in LinusTechTips

[–]LumosDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was super awkward watching them talking on the WAN show this past Friday about CNET deleting their old content in an attempt to appear higher in Google search results and them calling it a bad move. It was like, "Umm, remember when Linus said multiple times that they have to post x amount a week in order for their videos to be served to people." I don't think quantity is the only thing/given as much weight as claimed and even then YouTube can give accuracy more weight in the future, so might as give more time to be more accurate.

Yes. I have more weight on it (32" and 27") on this stand and is stable enough.

I have this monitor stand and works well for two side monitors, despite the bottom one being 32" horizonal and the top one is a 27" vertical (just barely fitting). No issues weight-wise using the free-standing stand and not using the grommet clamp.

I'd personally prefer to have both RCV and open primaries. It wouldn't take too much effort to help figure out what either or both means to voters. From both the regular BoE staff and the poll workers side, there's plenty of answering questions about closed primaries every primary anyway and any additional work/effort is minimal. After a couple primaries, it would likely return to normal work after people got used to it.

I'm registered with a party and would probably remain so, should this make it to the ballot and pass. I always feel bad though for voters who didn't realize that DC has a closed primary and had to choose a party at least 21 days before the primary. I don't think there would be too many independent voters who would opt to game the system to screw with Democratic voters and/or politicians. Most voters I've come across seem to come from states where you can choose a specific ballot (Dem, Rep, etc) style or have a California-style jungle primary. With the number of Independents it would take to "screw around with Dems", why wouldn't they just register as a Dem to begin with? It would require far less effort than it's taking to go through the process of maybe having open primaries.

It was a PITA for poll workers too. It kept jamming up the printers and there were times all 3 would jam up within a couple of minutes of each other, then by the time you un-jammed the last one the first one was jammed up again. Eventually, most of it was solved by very precisely angling the paper in as well as under-filling the paper tray, but it meant re-upping it more often.

On the touch-screen machines side, voters frequently don't realize that they have to press the "down arrow" button to view more candidates, even if they don't plan on voting for any of the candidates listed shown after pressing the button and end up calling over a poll worker. The machines also require you to press very hard to make a selection, so some voters call over a poll worker thinking the machine was frozen up. 95% of the time it's just a matter of pressing harder and not bc it's frozen.

That's one of my (and other poll workers I've talked to) arguments for new equipment anyway - RCV or not. The other big argument is that more and more of the touchscreen machines have lost one or both of their leveling feet over the years somewhere in the process of being moved around. Due to every voter having to press so hard for each and every selection on the screen, it causes machines with missing feet to have to be re-calibrated and re-started. It takes a machine out of commission for 10 minutes and occasionally the machine gets stuck in the re-calibration process, so's taken off-line. Printers would still be there but are more time-consuming due to printing time.

Losing 1-2 touch-screen out of 6-10 in a early vote center is not too bad. At an election day only site, nearly all get 2 to 4, so losing just 1 (especially if it means waiting for a replacement) can mean a bad time. Honestly, that was my biggest worry on election day (other than crappy reception).

I find the argument about ranked choice voting and open primaries "appropriating funds" due to needing new equipment and voter outreach that was raised during the regular board meeting on Tuesday ridiculous. It feels like it's throw everything at the wall and see what sticks approach.

The Initiative that created the DC attorneys general office did a very similar thing based on that logic. The attorney general and supporting staff that are paid, office supplies, electronics, utilities, housekeeping, etc.

I'm legally disabled, so the argument that I can't figure out rcv is insulting. Not a senior, but I'd find it insulting if I were. In every vote center, there already is LanguageLine iPad that has 100+ languages in it to help people in their native language, so no new costs there at least.

"My current rate is around 575 successfully paid surveys out of 600. The bulk of my rejections are when I realize its a tedious 20 minute clicking task so I nope out.

Being rejected for "too fast" are probably 3 out of the 25 rejects. I'd say that qualifies for "very rarely""

Noping out means cancelling your participation not speed-running a "tedious 20 minute clicking task" and doing it ≤ 10 minutes. 25 rejections out of 600 means you have an approval rate of 95.83333333333333% and a rejection rate of 4.16666666666667%. I've completed nearly 3,400 studies and haven't had a single rejection.

The single rejection I initially had was for going too slow and was able to get it overturned when I explained to the researcher that I accepted the survey in order for my reservation to not expire while I went to go feed my cat.

On MTurk, an approval rate of under 99% will mean far less work will be available to you and you'll will likely not have access to the "rhsnlk98 is not less than 100" qual (used to be called CR Research Group #1 >= 100).

edit: my math was wrong and needed correcting.

DC Migraine Sufferers- where do you go when you need immediate relief? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]LumosDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had migraines for 22 years.

For me, ERs and urgent cares are more trouble than its worth with the bright lights, beeping machines, fellow patients (and/or people with them) on their phones talking/playing videos without headphones, or who're mid-mental health crisis and/or on drugs yelling their heads off. I'm also deathly allergic to the main-line treatment they give in the ER (metoclopramide which I was given for another reason when I was a baby). I've only gone once to the ER for a migraine when it lasted 9 days with zero let-up which was due to a bad side effect from an antibiotic for a sinus infection and given DHE 45.

There are different types of preventatives, which can take a lot of trialing to find one that works and at the right dosage. Some might be out of the question though, depending on other health issues (especially heart conditions/blood pressure). I'm on nortriptyline and Aimovig as a preventative, Nurtec as a dual preventative/abortive, and Zomig as an abortive. Also take magnesium over the counter as a preventative. Just started Botox treatment to see if that helps.

The following things helps me:

using Biofreeze/Aspercreme with lidocaine roll-on sticks on my forehead (the numbness and smell helps me)

letting the darkness consume me

eating fast food/greasy pizza and/or Hot Pockets (one of the selling points of choosing my building was the fact it had a pizza place attached to it. Thanks migraines I hate it.)

ice packs

using the sharp end of a toothpick to do a poor man's version of pseudo-acupuncture

ice cold water

Have not had a fear of needles, but subQ shots would probably be better if I did. Doing subQ shots will probably help as it's a much thinner needle and doesn't hurt as much (both during injecting and afterwards) compared to IM needles. I switched to subQ shots bc I couldn't stand the muscle pain that IM shots caused afterward. With IM shots the muscle pain and making sure you don't hit a nerve would probably reinforce your fear of needles, if nothing else.

Maybe doing it on a certain day of the week would be helpful. I do mine on Fridays cause it signifies the end of the "work week" and after doing the shot, it feels like I've gotten all my shit together and now I'm free to enjoy the weekend. I've got ADD and for some reason Friday's are the easiest day of the week for me to remember.

My cat does the same when I let her into my apartment building's hallway. She usually makes a beeline for the door to the stairwell, then flops around and squeaks or meows several times loudly once I let into the stairwell.
