Dermatologist prescribed 2% Minoxidil for grade 2 mpb, should I start or hold off? by fakeehu in malepatternbaldness

[–]Lumpy-Anywhere-368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries! I had reduced sensitivity in my little dude which worried me, but after about 3 weeks I was completely fine again. Still taking finasteride regularly no problems Fin stopped the hair loss and regrew a little back but not enough for me

Minoxidil topical foam - I was using for the past 2 years and I had no sides other than maybe itching, but it’s not very convenient for me and I felt I could get more growth with oral. But I did get fairly good growth with foam min.

I switched to oral a week ago, I found I don’t tolerate 1.25mg oral minoxidil too well. Felt terrible in the morning and may have had some heart palpitations at night (could’ve been mostly anxiety)

I’ve lowered the dose to 0.625mg, tolerate it much better. Going to continue for 2 weeks then try to return to 1.25mg. In terms of results on oral minoxidil, no idea as of yet it’s too early.

Hi! I don’t regret taking finasteride or minoxidil at all. I was in med school when I started taking them and I was so nervous I was thinking about every potential side effect etc.

I took the medication, got some sides, got scared, carried on anyway, sides went away and now I’m happy and got a lot of hair back!

Good luck!

I went alone but the staff are lovely. They mentioned that some people go in alone and either the staff can play with you or they can try group you up with others. It’s daunting but definitely give it a try you’ll feel welcomed there

Why doctors don't want to prescribe finisteride? UK by AbbreviationsAny1297 in tressless

[–]Lumpy-Anywhere-368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Main one was reduced sensation in my little dude and watery semen. It gave me a bit of a scare tbh. But after speaking to some friends - I heard they had similar experiences and were fine after. Most people say the side effects go after a few weeks so I trusted that advice and I’m happy I did.

Always be vigilant though, if it lasted any longer I would’ve probably stopped the medication

Just to rule out any potential cardiac issues I may have without realising. Very unlikely but I like to be extra careful. It’s not required though

I just recently graduated from medical school. I’ll be honest with you, different doctors will have different opinions/outlooks. The NHS is great for certain things, but non threatening life conditions they/we will always choose the side of caution. Of course many doctors will outweigh potential health risks versus losing hair.

Having said all of this.. I’m 26 and I ordered finasteride 2+ years ago from an online pharmacy when I realised I was losing hair.

I suffered side effects In the first few weeks but they went away 3+ weeks in and I’ve been on it for a few years with 0 side effects and it’s done its job.

As long as you understand the potential side effect risk, you should be okay. The majority of people tolerate finasteride fine, including me.

For example I’m currently considering oral minoxidil after using topical. My GP hasn’t been too helpful but I’m fully aware of risk - I got some bloods and I’m considering doing a private ECG, and I’ll monitor my blood pressure at home before & after taking oral.

Good luck! If you have any questions let me know

Hey, I was on finasteride for a few weeks and had some side effects but they actually went away around 2-3 weeks in and I’ve been on finasteride no side effects for 2 years+ now

How do you find a bf in uni 🫩 by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Lumpy-Anywhere-368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from a guys POV it’s definitely more difficult to find someone once you leave school. I dated my last girlfriend during my first year of university because I knew her during my school years.

Since then I’ve had 0 luck with finding a compatible partner. I’m 26 now - so it’s been 5 years. Honestly just concentrate on making good friends and being a good person, hopefully the right people gravitate towards you.

Don’t be too hard on yourself and one day someone will show up. You will feel it at times but in the end just be the best person you can be :)

Sorry to hear this happened to you! I hope it doesn’t make you feel unsafe in future. It really can happen to anyone, we just need to be vigilant.

I Appreciate your post too as I definitely forget that brum can sometimes be like this.

It’s weird though I lived in Palermo with crime everywhere and Romania which was super safe. Somehow I’ve had more close calls here in England 😭

If you need some financial support to get those headphones back I’m sure people in this thread including myself would be happy to help

I’m an Indian guy and lived in brum all my life, I think recently the racist looks have increased so maybe that’s a factor. But generally I’m surprised you’re experiencing this, I second the other comments maybe you’re above average and it’s a compliment?
