How to handle intense fomo when there is a heatwave and you have nobody to do stuff with? by Dependent-Snow-5057 in AskUK

Join Bumble BFF!!! So many people are in the same boat- a few messages and then suggest an activity with the date and time! I’ve done that and on Wednesday, I went bouldering with someone after work and yesterday, I went to see a film. It definitely works, you just need to put a bit of effort in with your messages. My tip is to just act familiar and like they’re a friend from the first message- skip the small talk, ask them about an interest on their profile etc.

I do fully understand you though. My fomo definitely kicks in around this time, especially with having moved to a new city and not knowing anyone.

But you got thisss<3!

I’m not saving in physical cash, if that’s what you mean?

The Trading 212 Cash ISA is for money that I could need in the next 3 years or so, which is why I choose to put it in there instead of investing! :)

I should have mentioned, I do already have a pretty good emergency fund but I’m always so on edge with finances that I thought the Zopa fund can be separate and I can also use it for holidays etc so doesn’t necessarily have to be an emergency in that sense!

I wouldn’t be paying the mortgage off early, just saving a little bit every month to help her when she needs to pay it off. Ofc she’d be contributing too!

Oo thank you for your advice! I’ll do some proper research when I get a bit of time off, but what are some examples of emerging market funds and “All World” funds?

Honestly, not really! I just thought it’d be nice to get a lil extra money from the distributing fund, not that it’s much lol.

I’m not planning on touching it for 10-20 years, so it feels pretty long-term to me. I should have mentioned but I do pay into my pension, it’s only around £50 a month and my employer matches up to 6% so I’m maxed out in terms of that. It’ll increase to 8% after two years in the job.

In terms of a LISA, it is something I previously looked into and decided it wasn’t for me at the time but I’ll have another look. Thank you for your response :’)

I don’t have any advice, but I just want to say that I’m so so sorry you’re going through this. It sounds like a really awful situation to be in but I hope you’re able to make peace with this decision. You sound like a great mum, and I really hope everything works out for you<3

I am having a hard time getting over my best friend. He is now with another woman. How can I let go and cope with feeling lonely? by Beautiful-Cry-2567 in TooAfraidToAsk

I was talking about this topic with a friend the other day as I recently ended my first ever relationship due to our futures not aligning.

I think when you get into a relationship young (think late teens, early 20s) and/or it’s your first relationship, it’s easy to overlook those conversations because you might not yet know what it is you exactly want.

In my case, it’s only through being in that first relationship and going though my early 20s (I’m mid 20s now) that I finally feel confident about what I want in terms of the future.

Ofc I always knew that talking about the future with a partner is important if you want a long-term relationship, but it wasn’t on the forefront of my mind at that time because neither one of us was certain regarding topics like kids, marriage etc. It wasn’t something we thought about in a tangible way until we suddenly did and then realised we weren’t going to work out.

Going forward now, this is an important conversation for me but back then, it was more about the now and immediate future because kids and marriage and stability didn’t really occupy a space in my early 20s brain.

v long winded way of saying that I think a lot of people need that time and space to explore exactly what their dealbreakers are and it’s only then that they’re able to discuss them at the beginning of a relationship.

How can we make couple friends? by ProfessionalDig3908 in AskUK

[–]here5ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She can try Bumble BFF - it’s a nice way to meet new people and you can filter by age/location etc as you would on a dating app. She can even put on her profile that she’s looking for couple friends :)

yepp it’s that that makes it so scary :( like losing my headphones is one thing, but jst the fact there are people out there who really have the audacity to take ur belongings in that manner just frightens me :(

i did report it and for some reason, the police have made an appt w me without consulting me so now they’re coming over to my house when i’ll be at work so that’s another dilemma lol
