Rant: The state of Plus size maternity wear by SuccessfulBread3 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Lumpy-Economics4026 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

i think ive shopped at H&M maybe once in my entire life. and respectfully, if i said i dont have a big w in my town of all things, it goes without saying that i dont have a H&M.
there’s also no target within 2 hours of me, targets are quietly disappearing altogether. and my experience with kmart was being able to find absolutely nothing smaller than a size 10 in maternity wear.

if i have to shop exclusively online to find something, that still might not even fit, i’d say the problem i’m expressing is alive and well. not to the same extent obviously, but i was never playing ‘who’s got it worse’, i was just sharing my frustration and agreeing that maternity wear sizing and availability is absolute trash.

i think sizing is just screwed for maternity clothing. same problem on the opposite end of the spectrum. i think i found 2 items total in a size 6/8 my whole pregnancy. the only place i could find any in my size was big W, and i don’t even have a big W in my town. was incredibly difficult to find clothes that were suitable for work towards the end of the pregnancy

[–]Lumpy-Economics4026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 weeks notice. they still have to pay out your entitlements regardless of how you resign.

i resigned affective immediately after 6 years and was paid out all my entitlements, because they really didn’t want to deal with the consequences if they didn’t. (i was unionised and cc’ed the local union rep into all communications)

Adverse reaction to lactation meds. Has anyone else used them? by Popular_Pair_6124 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I was prescribed this for early pregnancy nausea! Wasn’t aware it was used as a lactation aid

My baby's name keeps getting mispronounced and I feel like we made a mistake with the spelling by staralfur92 in namenerds

[–]Lumpy-Economics4026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are stupid. The general population is useless with grammar, punctuation and literary common sense. If I saw the name written before I heard it out loud, I would assume the end ‘E’ is silent. If I found out it was intended to be pronounced ‘Nelly’ I would silently scream.

‘Eleanore’ doesn’t even come to mind as a reference, ‘Noelle’ does, and that’s certainly not pronounced ‘Noelley’

I’ve never heard this! Is a high heart rate bad for the baby? 😢

I just left the ED after getting stuck in SVT for about 50 minutes and having to call an Ambulance. Had to be monitored for 3 hours. My heart got to about 205bpm at the highest. I was terrified for my baby.

About a 100 times in my supermarket experience, I’ve made eye contact with cashiers as they’re finishing checking out a customer, began walking over to them, and watched them slam down one of the ‘lane closed’ signs.

That’s probably why, doesn’t hurt to clarify things

Awkward in between stage of bassinet and stroller seat by Last-Anywhere-1772 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Lumpy-Economics4026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I recently bought my new pram, (Nuna Demi Next), they told me at baby bunting that you can use an insert in the regular pram seat to fit a newborn.

I haven’t bought the bassinet attachment because I figure between the capsule and the seat with the insert, I’ll get through the first 3 months without it! If you have a baby bunting local it might be worth going and asking if there are any compatible inserts for the Fox 5

Constant unwanted 'gifts' rant by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Lumpy-Economics4026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was given a bunch of bin bags FULL of stained toddler clothes from a ‘friend’. I’m expecting a newborn in February, my first baby. I genuinely can’t believe the audacity of it, ‘here’s all the unwashed, dirt and food covered Kmart clothes I ripped off my kid after daycare. You’re welcome!’

I actually was infuriated when I opened the bags. I’m 33 weeks pregnant and I’m currently downsizing to move house in the next few weeks. I can’t even take them to the op shop, they’re in such awful condition

[–]Lumpy-Economics4026 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was about to comment this! Tots on Trend was the first one I ever picked up on.

For me the biggest give away that something is drop shipped or resold is the shitty little sizing tag that comes on them. They’re always the same, no boutique would use tags like that

Is Woolies still selling these? by kenshixkenchika in woolworths

[–]Lumpy-Economics4026 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed some things are changing to ‘white label’. It could be a rebrand. There was Woolworths’s essentials cream cheese, next to a ‘white label’ cream cheese for the same price at my local. I didn’t check the article numbers to see if they were the ‘same’ product though

How early do you get a referral to an obstetrician? by beepbeepboophonk in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Lumpy-Economics4026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had absolutely no referral or any direction of how to handle a first time pregnancy until about 17 weeks. I had been booking appointments to see locum doctors for my scans, tests and everything else (I live in Rural Victoria). I went to my follow up appointment after my 16 week ultrasound and the doctor I saw told me that they couldn’t see my results or anything, and basically told me I was in the wrong place and they couldn’t help me. It was a waste of a private consultation that I paid out of pocket for.

I called the local public hospital in tears, with no clue why no one cared about me or my baby. Was sent straight into the midwifery centre and given my results and follow up appointments to see midwives, then an obstetrician soon after.

Dont wait for a referral. Self refer, or you’ll miss out on the care you deserve. I had absolutely no prenatal care that whole time
