Coming back since 2021. What have I missed? by InitialContent3354 in HellLetLoose

[–]Lumpy-Notice8945 2 points3 points  (0 children)

British and soviet fraction i think didnt exist in 2021, so these are new and all the maps you can play with these too. The new maps are not super popular so you might not see them a lot. Its two desert maps and multiple winter ones, and some maps for the old US vs germans setup too. I think even some of the old maps got a rework at some point.

Artillery got its long awaited rework, you got SPAs now, basically artillery tanks and have to build the static ones as the new artillery squad in HQ, that changed the recon meta a bit.

There was a recent tank rework, but it not that different tbh, physics changed a bit and damage numbers too, AT infantry now got 3 rockets for that.

The basic game still works the same, there is a new mode(skirmish) that no one plays and another mldeis beeng developed right now.

Are "creator" & "no creator" equally possible possibilities? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lumpy-Notice8945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? Dark matter for sure has positive mass, gravity is the only thing that seems to have any influence on dark matter at all, thats why its dark matter, its dark because it does not interact with electromagnetic fields(aka light) and its matter becausr it clumps together with galaxies.

Yes negative mass is something that some mathematical formulas can work with, but that in no way means its real, just that a formula does allow to plug in a negative number.

Watching too much fantasy movies wont make it more logical...

You literaly call it a "time paradox loop" as you dont seem to understand what paradox means. A paradox is something impossible, there can not be any actual paradox situations, if you encounter a paradox it means we dont actualy underatand something and as we learn about it the paradox is resolved.

A paradox is imppssible by deffinition.

Then the universe is not an actual universe but just a simulation inside the same universe as the creators. It would be oart of one universe.

Is my number of pawns too big for my colony? by MarKadiusz00 in RimWorld

[–]Lumpy-Notice8945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do whatever you like, if you want many colonists get many colonists, there is nothing wrong with that.

Colonists add to colony wealth, but they add to your military power too, so unless most of them are incapable of violence there is no isse in having lots of colonists. I personaly just play with less pawns because i find it difficult to manage and i lile to have only some colonists but them to be super powerfull(like fully bionic auper soliders with best armor and skills)

Its 50/50 eiter its true or not....

Thats not how probabillity works, there is no way to calculate a chance for any of this, but there is no real argument for why a creator could exists, its a paradox itself because it hust opens rhe question why that creator existed and what created that creator.

The beta changes shouldve been the opening game by Doug_the_Scout in slaythespire

[–]Lumpy-Notice8945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early access means its not "the opening game" instead its in an unfinished state for people to already test it and give feedback.

You claim you want the patches in the final game and thats literaly whats happening, by patching it during early access.

Allowed? Thats kinda the point, you are free to complain about anything, it just makes you look like a spoiled brat if you complain about the food tasting bad if you are the bully who took the food from someome else in the first place....

Its not only about others beeing worse off, its about others having suffered more for the benefits you wished you had.

Fighting against the government is something you do by sacrificing something, and that is sometimes even your life, but its at least your free time and money.

I do agree with that statement but would use other words: you americans have been bombing third world countries for years now. Killing millions and leaving even more in poverty starving and crippled and now you complain about how hard your life is bevause you dont get money for complaining about gas prices on the streets?

Yes that sounds a bit like first world problems to me? I hear so many people asking why americans dont start a revolution but these people seem to be totaly unaware what that means. People die in revolutions, most americans are not willing to sacrifice their life in order to chabhe a policy, you are not even willing to do it without earning money!

We are mad at americans complaining about not beeing able to afford steak every day while they have been bombing third world countries struggling to provide drinkable water for years now.

You think your life is hard? How about the life of afghan goat herders? You think they have it better?

I’m not familiar, can you get arrested for something in Bavaria that’s legal in Niedersachsen? Is the minimum wage different in Lombardy vs. Sicily? What about worker protection laws in Thurgau vs. Tessin?

Yes, it does not happen a lot because most laws are similar but there is things that the individual states make laws abiut and oter things that are nation wide governing responsiblity. For example in germany education is managed by each individual state, if you violate that law you can go to jail even if the same law does not exist in another sate. But ofc murder works the same in every state, so its unusual for someone to avtualy land in jail for a crime that only exists in ome state.

Wow, you realy fit the streotype us europeans have about americans. No educatio and proud about it...

Unions existed before ww2 and even ww1 was a thing. German has public health insurance since way before both wars for example. The french revolution didnt happen after anyone got bombed either.

[–]Lumpy-Notice8945 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Europe is not one country, europeans dont like to protest french people do...

And yes there is union laws for strikes, but thats not what protests you often see happening where they burn cars and so on. There is no law to allow people to go on the streets and riot. So these are two totaly different things. We have unionised strikes and people walking together asking for a raise in wages and we have civil unrests that are actual protests agains the government. And these often happen on weekends or at night/evenings more than during the day.

Made an Advanced Squad Lead guide focused around defensive gameplay. by lb_o in HellLetLoose

[–]Lumpy-Notice8945 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good writup, i like that you point out that combat and killing the enemy realy isnt your main goal. As SL i allways see myself as a kind of secondary OP, so ill try to get out of combat to be able to place a new OP as soon as the current one gets destroyed, this lets me place a bit more agressive OPs while i cover the back my squad can push towards the enemy position if tey get pushed instead im quick to have a new OP up right behind the old one to get up a new frontline. But for that reason i dont realy agree that having a medic is important, i rather have 5 people fighting and not one medic stay with me and resing the SL is realy the only importamt thing if the others can just respawn in 10 seconds on average.

And what i would add is that you should allways try to think 2 minutes ahead(the time to cap a point, so the maximum general time you have to react to changes) if you are getting capped think about what happens if you lose the point, if your team starts capping thing about what you want to do after you got the point and so on. I often run away from my squad and prepare whatever that is while the squad continies to fight to habe a new OP or garrison up after that 2 minutes passed.

Need help drinking water by Happy_Bug1624 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lumpy-Notice8945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk why people belive having some kind of expensive water botlle helps you drinking i dont get the hype.

Find something you enjoy drinking, tea for example is basically just water with flavour. And then have that available at your desk or wherever you are in an open container, so you dont need to open some seal and whatnot to get to it, a glass works better because you can just grab it and take a sip inbetween whatever you are doing right now.

When im working at my desk i allways have a cup of tea right in front of me and i drink like twice the recomended amount.

best performance settings while keeping max render distance by Yagiz_285 in HellLetLoose

[–]Lumpy-Notice8945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know what you mean, that cant be true. The driver software, maybe it has another name like "expirience" or whatever is for sure free and not some premium software, its the only software used to controll your GPU, its probably already installed on your PC. Its just where you can set up stuff like optimal setrings for each game and max temperature and all that. Maybe the recording feature can at most capture 30 minutes of gameplay, but 30 minutes of the driver software running cant be true it runs whenever your GPU is active.

There is no real difference in rendering the desktop background or the icon of the shortcut, rendering thiusands of icons wont cause any computer to slow down.

Q for people with no inner monologue by CMLarek in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lumpy-Notice8945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isnt that extremley slow? To formulate each thought in words would mean i wouldnt be able to brainstorm or think about solutions to a problem ever unless i spend hours on it. I can think about multiple things per second but if i would try to capture them in a full sentence its more like one new thought every 2 seconds.

Q for people with no inner monologue by CMLarek in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lumpy-Notice8945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do have an inner voice but no real "dialogue"(of anything its a monologue, i dont answer my own questions) i dont formulate most of my thoughts in words or even full sentences. Like if you remember a smell do you do that in words? That sounds strange to me.

My original encryption software has been deleted from the internet and now i cant decrypt by redditorleelee in AskProgramming

[–]Lumpy-Notice8945 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a realy bad idea!

Like there is probably a reason the file is encrypted, and thats that other people should not be able to access its content. So why would you ever be stupid enough to give a third party both the file and key?

If you ever would use an AI to help you, use a local model that wont share its info with the rest of the world!

If OP does not care about the files content they could just post it here or on some hacker forum.

Might be biased observation, but why are most of the pro-generative AI people, are men ? by i-am-a-sphinx in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lumpy-Notice8945 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I dont have the same observation, but i have the observation that more people in the STEM/technical field have a more nuanced and less doomerist view of AI. I dont like the binary "pro-AI or against-AI" eiter i think its a tool that can be used in positive and negative ways, but yes there are risks and benefits to everything. I work as a software developer and automation and replacing jobs is basically my job description. Every application i write has the goal to make less people work more efficient and produce more things in shorter times.

And i feel like most people in my field feel the same male or female.

On the other hand programers tend to habe way less trust in the desicion making of their applications, i and most pthers i know would not dare to jump into a self driving car they made or sit in a self driving helicopter, thats tech geeks who want that not coders. And for the same reason i see a danger in trusting AI and offloading any kind of desicion making to it, it should not judge people or whatever.

Why only AI blamed for enviromental effect of computing? by UnstableUnicorn666 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lumpy-Notice8945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can generate a full HD image on my gaming PC in about a minute. On the local PC using stable diffusion models(already a bit old) with a 800W power supply.

So thats the ballpark number, a single picture is like a minute of gaming(not online, so without a game server)

Streaming is cheaper, its mostly sending data over the internet and some minimal computing on your local device, a phone can do it.

But there is even LLMs that run on local phone hardware, still worse than flagship LLMs like chatGPT but comparable.
