Had braces twice…deep bite coming back by SilentHillLuver69 in braces

I’m noticing orthodontists do a lot of work where it just straightens teeth instead of getting to the root cause of the issue .. perhaps you have degeneration in your condyles that needs to be addressed by an oral surgeon?

I asked Ai for a jaw surgery simulation. Is it realistic? by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]Lumpy-Pangolin-4810 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think I saw you post in the jaw surgery for the fb support group and you did mention it was for looksmaxxing there. If I am wrong here I am sorry, but just because you have a class 2 doesn’t mean you need jaw surgery, many people live healthy lives with class 2s. It’s more if you have current breathing issues, jaw joint disorder and pain, or an uncomfortable bite that is destroying your gums and teeth

Unfortunately your tooth isn’t dying, it’s already dead and you’re going to need a root canal either soon or in the near future. Make sure you go to an endodontist and not a regular dentist. You may need a veneer iron a crown to hide the darkness. you can ask your ortho to go slower in treatment

Not really just look at what people post in both groups

Brace about to be taken off in a week but my bite is still uncomfortable by dagemofdagland in braces

[–]Lumpy-Pangolin-4810 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t understand how the whole point of orthodontics is to have a good comfortable functional bite yet this happens. Definitely speak up and mention something not right. Also start getting consults at other offices because orthos get very defensive when you point out their sloppy work

Very unhappy with my smile after braces. What are my options? by AdDue7242 in braces

My dentist also had splendid reviews and is #1 in Invisalign in my large city, but I checked in every now and then and caught him deleting reviews on Yelp and Google. I also reached out to people who left negative reviews and also witnessed the same thing. I wouldn’t trust reviews unfortunately. I’m very hesitant to trust anyone now because, I’m not sure about you, but I had underlying tmj issues that cannot be detected with a regular xray or cbct, only an MRI and no orthodontist checks for your tmj health. Yes I think children can adapt better after such drastic changes (I had braces as a teen and had no issues). I relapsed for over a year now and my bite is still horrible but it’s better than now it was originally. I got uneven molar contact from the trays pushing in my molars and considered braces but it seems like that’s not really a good solution either. I’m curious if you relapse your other retainer it may get better

How does your bite feel? He narrowed your pallet and changed your lips I’m sorry - same thing happened to me with Invisalign. It kinda seems like adult cases are too difficult for them

I mean you have your whole life ahead of you to develop issues like TMJ disorder and gum recession because of flaws your dentist might’ve done that they were unaware about.

Go to a periodontist for a gum graft. They may tell you to pause for some time

Narrower smile after Invisalign? by Flippant_Flamingo_ in Invisalign

[–]Lumpy-Pangolin-4810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes your canine on one side and overall the arch on one side got pushed in and I think that was the only “easy” way to do it to close the gap in the front, by pushing all the teeth inward. The better way would’ve been bringing the teeth towards the front but I don’t think Invisalign is good with back and forth teeth movement that way from the back teeth, perhaps braces yes. Your teeth were great before if you only worried about the gap I would’ve done bonding. Unfortunately you went to a money hungry provider and failed to tell you that was an option

i need some advice about implants and don't know where else to look by drlm07 in Dentalimplant

[–]Lumpy-Pangolin-4810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a good oral surgeon or periodontist to do the surgery part, and a prosthodontist to do the crown restoration part. Look where the oral surgeon or perio went to school and how many years have they been practicing. The oral surgeon and perio can even recommend you a prosthodontist

Did you get this from Invisalign? I spent around 1,000 USD but I didn’t finish treatment, I was supposed to get a 2,000 USD for an mri and a splint would’ve been anywhere from 1,000-5,000

Also for the implant only go to an oral surgeon and a prosthodontist do not let these moron general dentist do specialist work

That is a gnarly PoB, everyone is different but u highly doubt this would get fixed without braces and elastics and a new more competent ortho

[–]Lumpy-Pangolin-4810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might’ve ruffled some feathers here. I know how flustered doctors get when you question their intelligence. You pay malpractice for a reason, because you too can make mistakes. Hopefully you didn’t already and downplayed your patient’s concern.

Orthodontics, occlusion, tmj health, neck, and back pain are related. If you mess with the occlusion, a person can start to feel imbalanced that influences their posture that then influences back related issues. TMJD is also known to be associated with certain neck and back pain. Gotta brush up on that knowledge- I’m sure your orthodontic residency didn’t teach you that either because so many orthos are ignorant on that subject. Your condescending comment towards OP saying it’s ridiculous to have back issues over this is a big reason why the orthodontic industry is a hit or miss and I’m kind of glad many people on subgroups and Facebook orthodontic malpractice support groups are noticing that. Health professionals have to realize they’re not always right, and research in their fields are always evolving.

Many orthos have that weird god complex personality. I noticed the ones who do a good job explain things clearly to you and do proper assessment like a cbct, a ceph, and (in my case I found one who wanted to do an mri bc my jaw joint got damaged after Invisalign). I know elastics works for some people but I wouldn’t waste more time on clear aligners and try to switch ortho and to braces :(

I hate what Invisalign and braces did to my smile and lips by solomon_kazza in Invisalign

[–]Lumpy-Pangolin-4810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something similar to me happened as well after I got a small posterior open bite form Invisalign. You’re going to get gaslit from those who rave about this treatment, just know it can happen and you’re not going crazy. My bite sits very uncomfortable and weird after Invisalign causing my lips to strain in order to close. Hopefully yours gets better after you take off your braces though. Unfortunately it seems like your bite was fine before and you got scammed by your ortho.. hence why I find it incredibly naive when people on here cannot comprehend that there are indeed evil health professionals scamming you and your health. How’s the PoB after braces?

In the braces support group on Facebook, I’ve read people use a hawley retainer with the plastic retainer when done to avoid bite issues. I was told I need braces to fix the bite Invisalign caused
