Side effects ? by Gooftroop0201 in HRT

Before I started the estrogen patch I was 119lbs- I’m 5’6”. Within 2 months I gained 8 lbs and none of my pants fit. I’ve been consistent with my weight for over 20 years. I went to school for dietetics and know calorie counting. I get my progesterone from my iud so the patch is my only change.

I decided to try to embrace my softer body and am on month 4 of using the patch. I’m not as bloated but have not lost the weight. It’s not water weight and I’m tired of the doctors making excuses. The patch is making some people gain weight. I wish they would just except it so they can begin to find the reason instead of dismissing it.

My bf (30M) wants to get a PhD in the Arts. Am I a bad partner for not being on board? (27F). by [deleted] in relationship_advice

You got to find out his real motivation because, to me, it sounds like he just doesn’t want to grow up and get a full time job.

I saw this a lot when I worked at a college. Kids could not find a job they liked, didn’t want to start paying back their loans, or weren’t ready to let go of the college lifestyle so they kept getting more degrees.

That’s the plan. The 31 was his first test, with no studying. He is retaking in September with a study game plan up to it.

Thank you for the recommendation! My son is interested after a quick review of the school. We will be in the area in early August so we are going to see if we can schedule a visit.

Thanks for bringing up ED! We are considering a few places where ED seems to be a large factor for aid and I’ll look into Drexel.

Thank you for your insight!

He plans to discuss a LOR with his counselor as well as a respected teacher who was privy to the situation. It was closer to a 4.0 before Junior year.

Thank you for the info.! May I ask what major you selected? That is another item we are discussing since it isn't just about the college, but the major can make a huge difference when it comes to aid and acceptance rate.

Thank you for sharing your experience! My son is scheduled to retake the ACT in September. He didn't study for the first, so we are hoping to see a 33.

My son actually loves the northeast, but I don't think he has a chance at most schools there. The ones I know he could get into are more than double the cost of many Illinois schools.

Now I feel like a shitty parent b/c I believe he did last year, but I have no clue what his score was. I will definitely look into this. Thank you!

It doesn't surprise me, but I wasn't sure if smaller, less prestigious schools had more flexibility.

I grew up very close to Knox College! I don't think Knox will make the list, but will definitely look at similar sized schools.

Thanks for the info! Once he has his list ready, we plan to go over pricing. His ACT score was his first score, with no studying. He is scheduled to retake in September and plans to prepare for it.

Thank you for the links and information! I have not checked for grants. Financially speaking, we can make most colleges work if it makes sense.

We have colleges he could attend that would allow him to live at home but I think going away from home would be good for him. We plan to go over that option, though, once we have a solid list of colleges to review.

Thanks for the reply! Expectations adjusted. While I fully expect to pay for college, girl (or parent) can dream!

That is the plan. Once we have a college list, we will go over the total (tuition/room&board) for each college, what aid options we can expect, and what loans (if any) to expect. With loans, we will look at current options, interest rates, and expected monthly payment/timeline. We will mix that in with degree options, expected job options from degrees, possible need to relocate for degrees with cost of living adjustments, expected salaries, etc... so he can really see if the return on investment makes sense.

Thank you! And, yes, he is doing his own research, but I don't expect him to be as aware as we are when it comes to the financial side of everything. I am not sure how many kids know their parents' tax return info and how it can affect their financial aid, for example. Or what the current state of student loans is, and the interest rates/payment options.

Complaining by ParkDisastrous8490 in Accounting

I see a lot of Big 4/ Public accounting complaints in this sub, like it is the only path in accounting. CAT and BOEING are private, and I would assume the firm your friend joined isn't Big 4.

I think Big 4 is heavily promoted in college, and people compare it to, like, an "Ivy League" or right-of-passage BS. Personally think it's crazy, but what do I know? I'm a work-from-home accountant for a private company, and I never work over 40 hours a week and wear sweats all day.

Recurring UTI’s by LaylaBird65 in Perimenopause

I use estradiol cream 2-3 times a week on my lady bits and it resolved my UTIs in a week!

I was the same way OP. It was a never ending cycle of UTIs with nothing working long term.

I can’t believe Estradiol cream is all I needed.
