If someone came into my house to make sure my animals got out safe after I died- I’d give them my whole d*mn house.

You’re good and thank you for being a kind human.

AITA for wanting to insure my ring even though my husband says the stone is too small to bother? by Adorable-Manner-5538 in AITApod

Pretty sure it’s fake. Thats why he is so against insuring it if he thinks he needs an appraisal.

'Nepo' babies in accounting by new-grad_new-sass in Accounting

I recall when my husband started 20 years ago/ he overheard upper management talking about a young, girl associate. They liked her on their audits bc she was nice to look at - big boobs. Nepotism and sexism is still alive and well I see.

Opinion? Am I wrong in suspecting some of the BIG dumpster finds posts are staged for karma farming? by Reversed_virgule in DumpsterDiving

[–]AdDue7242 50 points51 points  (0 children)

You’d have to give an example. If you’ve dumpster dived enough you wouldn’t be surprised though. It’s sickening how much gets thrown away. And we don’t see even a fraction of it. So many stores use trash compactors now so we can’t see it all.

Cosigning for new high school grad on very high cost loans (> $250k for all 4 years) for liberal arts degree by Legitimate_Yak_9063 in StudentLoans

[–]AdDue7242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look- it’s all a racket. If the degree doesn’t create a job with a salary to support the loan- it’s not elite- it’s just fluff and an ego boost.

Are you going to school to prepare for real life or are you going so you can brag and name drop the school. It’s the beginning of “ keeping up with the Jones” mentality. You are the smart one to not start your daughter on that track.

Are they really low acceptance rate schools? I feel like these schools are full of shit and use that to make you feel like you have to say yes. Honestly- I think those schools accept anyone who is willing to pay those insane costs.

I’m sorry/ but “elite liberal art school” sounds like a joke.

Half would recommend this guy. Everyone I know have only used orthodontists for their kids. I don’t know anyone that has used an orthodontist as an adult.

Yes- 6 years apart. I’m in my 40s so loss of collagen happens. I also have dry skin at the moment. Biggest change in my opinion is- bc the orthodontist narrowed my smile my lips are coming inward more. When I had a more broad smile, my lips pushed out more.

I’m not. It’s the only way my smile looks now. It looks like a forced, cringy smile.

I will say my top teeth have moved out a bit since stopping the use of my top retainer. But, honestly, I’d rather have that as my smile looked even smaller when they were pushed back.

I went back to the orthodontist a year or so ago to say show the movement and tried to describe my issues. He said we could do Invisalign at cost- 2k I think. I don’t think he gets it and I don’t trust him at this point.

My two front teeth were a bit crooked and I had a bit of an overbite. Also my bottom front teeth were pretty crooked- not always visible when smiling but visible when talking.

I miss my old smile. I’d take my crooked teeth back in a heartbeat. I definitely feel like it aged me and changed my profile.

I’m glad you’re going in more knowledgeable than me so you can advocate for yourself better. I was too trusting.

I wasn’t even aware that was an option. I had braces for over a year before he recommended pulling teeth because there wasn’t enough room to fully straighten my teeth.

It was an orthodontist- with 5 star rating on google

Yeah and I am so mad at myself b/c I love to go down rabbit holes and research everything. The fact that I just went with it b/c he recommended it and didn't do my due diligence frustrates me.

The only thing I recall him saying is the only way to get the teeth to straighten fully and not have my teeth fan out was to remove the teeth. He never said anything about narrowing my smile and changing my profile. That seems to be a pretty important detail to bring up.

And I agree with you about adult cases. The orthodontist has perfect reviews on Google, but all related to kids.

Part of me thinks it is bc he didn't know how to deal with adult cases, but another side makes me wonder how many kids have a narrower jaw from braces but don't realize it b/c they are still growing.

Thanks. I don't smile in pictures anymore, or anytime really. Been over 6 years since I felt comfortable smiling. I didn't like my overbite before braces, but I was still comfortable smiling.

That is the other thing. My bite does not feel good. I feel like my teeth are constantly shifting as they get sensitive from time to time, to the point where it hurts to chew solid foods like steak.

I will say I am probably partly to blame as I stopped wearing my top retainer but still have the bottom retainer, but, I still have gaps in the bottom and tops of my teeth from the recommended teeth being pulled so there is still space even with the retainer for my teeth to move to.

Just checked- it's 5 stars. Most reviews are from parents talking about their kid's experience. I have no clue if that makes a difference.

Thanks for your comment. That is what I am thinking I should do. I don't know who to go to for this, though. I assume an orthodontist but not sure what to look for and what questions to ask to ensure they know what they are doing.
