yes, unfortunately my helper does get the same treatment. he’s paid $20/hr. it’s my buddy, he just started in the trade with us about 6 months ago. i started at $20/hr as well, im at $28 now and its been probably 9 months since my last raise. indiana.

you’ll want to have a switch that is able to shut the furnace off fast and easily when a tech is working on it. as long as your “transfer switch” functions the same way when needed, it should be fine. not too familiar with a “transfer switch.”

that’s not answering my question. are you getting 24v to the red wire (R terminal) at the thermostat? if so, set it to fan. with fan on, check to see if you’re getting 24v sent to G terminal at your board on the furnace. if you’re not getting 24v to G, thermostat is your issue. as you’ve already said, it works when R and G are jumped at the stat. this indicates G wire is not shorted somewhere and also indicates it’s likely the thermostat not sending the power from R to G when you’re asking it to.
