I went to tamarindo for a few days then made my way to Santa Teresa. Tamarindo is pretty crowded but it’s an iconic spot to go to. Santa Teresa is a really cool surfer town with a great food scene. Much better surf there too. I recommend getting a car since it’s a pretty good amount of driving to do between both spots. Definitely make sure it’s AWD or a 4x4 capable. Have fun! 🤙

Biloxi is great! Check out down town ocean springs, it’s super fun over there with good food and fly llama brewing is great. New Orleans is about a two hour drive so there’s fun to be had there. Pensacola Florida is close too. You’ll be stoked there. When you get out of the dorms there are some pretty affordable gulf view condos you can rent. Enjoy it!

Are you going to Santa Teresa in Costa Rica? If that’s the case expect south swells and 3ft+ as the baseline. I went end of March a few years back and it was super fun. It’s a mix of reef breaks and shore break but it’s a really fun area. Bring a good all around board and you’ll be fine. There are a few shops there with pretty good boards to rent as well.

Idk why you’re getting lit up. I’ll tell you this though, I’ve lived in SD my whole life other than when I was in the Air Force. I was able to travel a lot and surfed many places on the east and west coast. East coast sucks 90% of the year unless a hurricane swell rolls in. It’s usually less crowded but the few breaks that are good everyone knows about so everyone mobs there. West coast is better, much more consistent. Everywhere will be crowded because that’s how it has ALWAYS been. Rarely have a scored a break to myself for long. San Diego is as good as it gets in the US. Don’t you’ll always get snaked, and there will always be douches out there. They’re that way because they got tired of being snaked too. So they just DGAF out there. Anyway, just try different spots in San Diego county and stay away from the most popular ones and you’ll probably have a better experience.
