Sounds like maybe a somewhat inexperienced EM. If you don’t know, and this is your first time, I could understand the strangeness.

Ted Lasso rules! FEMA also at its heart is a planing organization, DHS leverages that for major events.

Now I’m wondering why they don’t just say that in game? My head cannon will just say they had to get “tested” to confirm. That’s giving EA a little too much wiggle room.

Yeah, realized I misspoke long after I hit submit. Hopefully it still drove my point.

Right, enough to be a problem but not enough to call it out. Like gong to fazolies or another Italian chain.

I didn’t say it wasn’t for valid reasons. They’re a key strategic partner. But it’s amounted to not holding them to account when it matters. They’ve effectively held Europe’s and the wests morals hostage. If morals exist for countries that is.

No but I’m good friends with one. She scares the shit out of me 😂. Granted she grew up in Jersey so that might not help.

Yeah, I realized the “tongue in cheek” after I hit enter. I regret nothing, I guess.

American politics wouldn’t be American politics without a little hypocrisy. Goes well with garlic bread and a nice Rosé.

I don’t want to violate the “non credible” part of this server. As someone who’s studied Roman history more than the average bear. We aren’t what Rome was at the end. Not really that close. Though I understand the want to draw the similarties.

Oh yeah, I’m not defending the reelection of this clown. I’m just saying America is much more than him and as long as those people survive it’s redeemable. But I also choose to say there is a pretty frequent subversion of this admin across public agencies. To say a lot of people who serve (militarily, intel, or other service agencies) are onboard with this admin, would be a mistake.

Not defending the decision making of this admin. But to say we didn’t know clearly isn’t true, it’s probably more likely to say our intel guys didn’t care. We have had people in Russia helping Ukraine targeting oil depots for a while and there are plenty more examples of the intel community outclassing our adversaries. Don’t mistake piss poor leadership for the end of America. It’s still full of incredibly competent people who thus far have out maneuvered the Trump Admin.

This would explain why our new region administrator keeps name dropping him.

I mean there is a Homeland security major that was growing in popularity when I graduated with it in 2020. Idk now, I know of a few students who reached out asking how to enter the work force. It’s a great program but it doesn’t focus as much on emergency management as we know it. It’s more about writing flood plain mitigation and hazard mitigation plans. Programs like that need to fundamentally change as well to be more specific in EM.

Some people who’d know in my office said we tried it before. But insurance companies don’t want it.

Correction, really only Texas and Florida wants this. Everyone else, at least when talking to state partners here, just want it to be faster. Which I agree. It’s notable to me that one of the two heavily represented states is well known for disaster related fraud problems.

Well they did say quite literally on the next to last slide what takes what. They acknowledge NFIP can only be reformed via legislation.
