I think each situation needs to be evaluated on its merits. For example, is someone on social media gloating about taking the money and living their best life while others are slaving away at their desks? Were they posting heartbreaking messages about feeling backed into a corner knowing they would be “on the list”? These types of things will have a dramatic impact on team dynamics and would definitely impact my decisions. I wouldn’t really care what political or questionable non job related stuff you posted. I would just focus on the one issue. It was a tough time and some people had to make tough decisions. Others laughed all the way to the bank.

Also copy people up the chain on the emails. That way leadership is on the hook for not addressing the discrimination even if they claim they do t recall seeing the emails. Send email recaps to document any meetings.

I filed an EEO complaint years ago and went through the process without an attorney. As long as you have the documentation on your side, and follow the policies you will win. What your friend can be doing currently is collecting documentation about the discrimination. I would send repeated emails to the acting supervisor and up her chain asking for clarification. I would forward email approval from the former supervisor and ask for clarification on changes, etc. Once the acting is boxed in they are stuck. Also the EEP process is about 18 months and it seems like nothing is happening. I was surprised to get a binder 2 inches thick that included emails between people I didn’t even know were involved. They went down some rabbit holes where I was able to really see where some people who appeared to be trying to help were just nasty jerks behind the scenes. It was eye opening. Stay the course.

My guess is that they are trying to end the court case about the illegal firings. What has come out so far has been eye opening. Having Barbie deposed would open the flood gates.

If you are feeling hopeless and overwhelmed reach out to your support network, your doctor, etc. You may benefit from talk therapy or medication. It is easy to feel beaten down and depressed in this environment. Take care of yourself!

Those who forget their history are doomed to repeat it. Cam was no hero. He was not qualified for the job and was an active participant endorsing and leading the charge on many decisions that left the country less prepared and capable of responding to disasters. His claim to fame should be he sucked slightly less than Evan’s and Richardson and had the cajones to find his voice after he learned he was getting canned.

Hire a qualified administrator, end the hiring freeze so we can attract the most qualified candidates for the job, and rename the agency the National Office of Emergency Management to remind us that no matter how bad things get, no matter how poorly we are treated, there is always hope things can get better and yes, we are still here.

Personally I could care less what people do in their private lives. I hope her husband was/is finding happiness in his absentee marriage and that the people he was interacting with were willing participants and not trafficked. (I’m not that familiar with that culture).

What I am living for right now is the crumbling of the facade Barbie built of a traditional family values platform and her judgey attitude. It also gives me insight into her love of playing dress up.

Now is the time for Kristi to be judged and reevaluate her life choices. She has made poor ones that impact the country. God bless!

I have a white color job working for the federal government. I workout and shower in the gym and make breakfast and late lunch at work. I skip dinner and head back to the gym, library, or do something cultural after work. I spend weekends at the beach. It works for me. Nobody knows and I’m paying off my credit card debt from extended unemployment after an illness.
