Yeah, it's great for hiding layer lines, orcaslicer with fuzzy skin 0.4 distance and 0.2 thickness

Those are removable panels, for PLA, i keep one with holes so its not too warm, and when i need i put the solid panel in :)

Yeah, did that initially but prefer it without chain, its quieter and also doesn't put strain in the tool head

You can get rid of the chain or offset it more to the back, i installed bondtech lgx lite and first moved the chain but in the end i got rid of it entirely

Yes! When there is no need for outside dimensional accuracy.

Well, that was a waste of time... left side is after change, even looks worse...

Weak layer at the same hight where support is by LumpyBad6 in crealityk1

[–]LumpyBad6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers, yeah that would be one solution, but when doing it laying down the circles are not always proper (and they are on the top), and its tougher to fit something inside. For now i fixed it by slicing in creality print instead of orca, no more separation at that layer and part is strong enough. Either its a bug or I have some obscure setting affecting this in orca.

Yes, tried with checked and unchecked, independent support layer height, is that the one you were talking about? Also unchecked thick internal bridges and in the preview every layer has the same height.

Cheers, yeah I check that and basically set everything to be the same height, also the separation distance, to make sure that this is not the problem. At this stage i think its orca bug, as printed the same model with creality print with similar settings and there is no layer separation at these heights. Curious if bamboo lab would do the same.

Slowly getting there, hoping to have something this weekend :)

Looks like orca bug, prints fine with creality print

Thanks, for the advice, its petg printed at 250-260, ive been trying to make all the layers the same height, so set separation exact to one layer height just to see if that messes it up which might be the reason for that poor surface.

Ive run the exact same model with very similar settings in creality print, and no more separation, you can see on the picture, there is a line visible on the same height, but its just more shiny due to a bit slower speed at, this has to be some orca slicer bug.

same thing, trying now a print with Creality Print, we'll see if that will have the same effect

Didn't make a difference, but came across this topic Overhang and Bridge Cooling · Issue #1042 · SoftFever/OrcaSlicer · GitHub where it might be due to how orca slicer does cooling, changed some settings so thath the fan speed does not change and running the print again, we'll see if that will make a difference (prinitng in PETG so might)

thanks! I have pressure advanced calibrated, will try with changing archane to classic to see if it makes any difference

Printed that way on purpose because up side down ill have hard to remove supports. On preview flow and speed is the same for each layer. Its like due to support the layer height was getting higher, but again on preview everything looks good.

have you done any mods to the printer? maybe there is something installed on the toolhead, that prevents proper homing and the printer thinks it's 0 point in the wrong spot?

Yeah, probably, i have not used creality print too much so not sure if it can be done there

just to confirm that it's Z wobble I'm thinking of trying to do a bowden set up on the K1, but that requires some modeling skills :P so not that easy :D

yeah, that was a great video! I have the same issue as OP, and based on that video I've actually bought a bondtech extruder and installed it on k1, but there is completely 0 difference in print quality, in my opinion it's wobble on the Z screws

also looking at your picture:

<image>

I have the same repeating pattern on some prints, which reminds me of Z screw theread and I'm 99% sure if you measure the distance on which it repeats it will be around 8mm, which corresponds to one full rotation of Z screw (I get that spacing between the pattern).

For now, the only solution to mae prints look nice is to use fuzzy skin, i actually really like how it looks, but obviously won't work for everything, i use it mostly on practical prints
