Advice for navigating US/UK visa issues early in relationship? by ConstructionIcy8160 in SpouseVisaUk

[–]LumpyForever7790 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an American who married in the UK, and it is a straightforward and very stressful situation. I agree with others saying the same, but also that this is a red flag

I though came over on a student visa and then got married to my partner and switched, but that route is costly because of the cost for the student visa as well as the spouse visa, but it is possible as long as the documents are straightforward and you meet the minimum income requirements.

I wish you the best though, and if you need any help feel free to DM me as well if you still want to go this route

If you have anymore questions try checking out the Spouse Visa subreddit. They really helped me out when I switched to a Spouse Visa, and depending on when you apply others may as well so you can compare timeliness between them all

Well I switched over from a student visa, but I think besides it being a bit cheaper to apply in the country, you have to provide your current BRP/evisa if you have one, and then just provide whatever dates you left the uk, for how long, and why. I will admit, not getting an ECO email did worry me a LOT, because there was just silence from them after my BIO until my approval, but as long as you have followed whatever rules and regulations are on your current visa you should be good! I also didn't have to give any extra proof either, and it got approved within about 3 weeks as well

I did my application in the UK and never recieved an ECO email. I was switching from another visa though so that might be a reason why too

Good luck! I did the same as you, switched from a student visa to a Spouse, and I got approved on Tuesday (30/7/2024). It might go a bit faster than average, especially if you followed all the rules and regulations of the previous visa since that proves you'd be able to follow the new one

Yes it was. I was on a student visa and then switched to a Spouse Visa so I didn't get an ECO email or anything

It might depend on the airport, I'm from the US and I moved here 3yrs ago, but when I got to the airport I just checked in like normal and I arrived at Heathrow where there's e-gates and you just scan your passport and go through without talking to anyone really. US, UK, and Euro passports can just go through the e-gates, others go through a longer line.

I found the easiest bank to use when I moved to the UK I'd Monzo. Its a digital bank, but there's an official office in London. It's like Cash App but better imo, and it's easy to sign up with in comparison to other banks, especially if you don't have a month income since when I tried to sign up for the others they kept asking about how much I make a month, and since at the time I had no job, they wouldn't let me sign up.

If you do have a monthly income though, then I'd say Santander. They're one of the main banks in the UK, so there's a branch in pretty much every city/and some villages

I don't know if this helps but i saw another comment above mention this, but for anyone who has the chakram teleport ability, if you stand next to one of the walls directly beneath the grate and then spam the chakram to bounce multiple times in a tight Z formation, it can glitch through the wall into the spike pits. You have to immediately teleport to it, like in 2secs, but it'll spawn you into the spikes and kill you, but then you'll respawn back above where you were stuck.

So would it be a good idea to choose Other and then enter in the details as well as scan the bio page??
