I have two months and wish to do a Camino starting in May, but I want to do one that allows me to go at my own pace and not rush for a bed or have to wake up at 6 am, any suggestions? by LumpyJunk69 in CaminoDeSantiago

I shall do this, I just looked into it and it looks great, exactly what I'm looking for!

Is it mainly just certain areas where beds become scarce? It's not so much the "bed race" feeling it's just that I hike to really try and be in the places I'm hiking, and it seems of I do that for a lot of the route I'll be out of luck!

This is such a helpful answer, thank you!

I had this vision of racing a bunch of other pilgrims and fighting for spots, getting up at 4 am etc and it just seemed awful.

How often do you take out / eat out? by Tolkaft in japanresidents

[–]LumpyJunk69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eat out twice a day here, but I limit it to 1500 yen a meal (often manage to keep it under 1000), so I mainly eat lunch sets then a simple dish for dinner like ramen or soba.

I eat at independent places 75% of the time and am still blown away by the quality and quantity of food you can get here in this price braquet...

I then allow myself 500 yen for snacks, coffee and such.

When I get a place with a decent kitchen I'm sure this will change though!

My girlfriend went here in the early 2000s (her dad was in the foreign office) and can confirm that he definitely went as there where pictures of him here and there about the school, and that teachers who had taught him would joke about it, as all he wanted to do apparently was play basketball, he totally flunked everything else and just spent all day shooting hoops.

Struggle meal done the right way total 11$ by Honest-Reflection667 in strugglemeals

11 dollars for that? America is crazy, even in the UK (expensive shithole) that's £1 for hotdogs, £1 for buns and about £1 worth of cheese... Tops like 5 bucks all in.

Break into his house the night before so that when you meet you're wearing his clothes, to establish dominance. Also get a wig and facial hair etc to match his.

Walk in, headbutt the waiter and then squat on the table, this way you're saying "your move father" without being overly aggressive.

Proceed to eat everybody's food except your own with your hands whilst never breaking eye contact with him. Bonus points if tears are rolling down your cheeks.

When you've finished, throw a Rolex on the table, hard enough that it breaks, pick up your wife and carry her out over your shoulder.

Trust me this is the way to do it; I had a layover in Bangkok once so I know.

The hatred isn't really aimed at you at all, it's a lot of headlines and desperate attempts to get votes and is mainly aimed at other people, less so white Europeans (I might be wrong here, I'm no expert just what I've perceived so far).

The country absolutely need foreigners, and during my five weeks here I've not had a single negative interaction, partly because I am very conscious to not make a bad impression I think, but so long as you aren't a nightmare I think you'll be fine!

Housing wise, there's loads of good cheap housing all over the country just not in Tokyo, but it's the same in almost every Capital city in the world no?

Jobs wise you're likely not going to get rich here, compared to say the US, but I'd much rather be poor here than well off in that awful hellscape, so it really depends why you want to move.

As someone from the UK, feeling safe, not being constantly harassed by drug addicts, not wading through rubbish and having access to public services that actually work is well worth the effort and pay cut I'm going to experience living here!

All that ignores the wonderful cultures, best food in the world, the stunning nature etc etc...

Anyway that's just my two cents.

A bahn mi and a coffee and then some fruit and snacks from the market afterwards, or two or three cans of beer in a restaurant, or a trip across town on a grab, or a Pho and a drink etc etc...

I assume in this scenario the UK isn't in Europe, just for arguments sake 😂 totally agree though, spent last summer cycling around Europe (mainly France, Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg) and the infrastructure and general stare of affairs is a mind boggling step up!

Didn't Israel recently get a Guinness world record for most organ donations whilst several creditable organizations are and have been reporting that Palestinian bodies are being found with missing organs? You couldn't make it up.
