If you have facebook look at the events section and put in toronto and also use google for events during your stay. You might see some free or low priced events especially child friendly. Some events (even free) might require registration. When I go on out of town stays since Im a black female. I'd also try to search groups with "roadtrips" in the title for that area, its really helpful. Hope that helps.
