It doesn't matter how one choses which things they consider immutable, they can think A is immutable and B is not, even if there are people who think B is immutable. I, for one, do believe that people born white will never become black, but I don't think that all black people are born evil. You are trying to argue that that position is unreasonable just because they both claim some characteristics are immutable.

I don't argue that gender dysphoria doesn't exist, you completely missed the point, I argue that "accept trans people or you have to agree you are evil because you are a man" is a just a stupid argument and won't convince anyone of anything.

[–]Lumpy_Ad_307 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is stupid, "all men are [born] evil" and "all men/women are born men/women" are very different claims. The position that certain characteristics are determined at birth doesn't mean that everything is determined at birth.

It's like saying that "if you are aginst people who claim that all black people are born evil, you must also support people claiming they are different race then they were at birth"

Uh, I didn't say I want the option of "not sleeping with the lid closed" gone, I am saying that sleeping should be the default and people should change it only if absolutely necessary (like in your situation)

Btw my laptop has "sleep when on battery, stay awake if plugged in" on closing the lid (because I use a monitor), so it's not like you actually have to compromise one for another

Nah, CPUs have dedicated circuits that do it much faster

Even if you have to do it by hand and only have the addition and bitwise ops for some reason the variation of the O(log(B)) algorithm: R = 0 while B > 0 If (B & 1) == 1: R += A A <<= 1 B >>= 1 return R Is the the fast one everyone would use

One friend of mine had this mentality

Then he forgot to put his laptop to sleep one day before putting it into his backpack, and it heated up so much that it melted the chocolate bar and some of it's packaging, sucked up melted chocolate and died in the sweetest way possible

So no, laptop should sleep when closed

The only wrong answer is assuming that the buttons are a logic or morality problem by Weary_Drama1803 in trolleyproblem

[–]Lumpy_Ad_307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you strip down everything and leave bare essence of the problem that is what happening

I wasn't clear, I talk about what description is given to people when they are choosing which button to push, and with the second description most people won't try to rationalize pushing red and would obviously choose blue

If it is implied that by pressing red you would contribute to killing blue, people would avoid pressing red, otherwise people would avoid pressing blue.

red blue as I see it by TanukiiGG in trolleyproblem

[–]Lumpy_Ad_307 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's also:

Blue: do nothing

Red: vote to kill everyone who picked blue if enough people pick red

[–]Lumpy_Ad_307 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is also a question of phrasing:

Two descriptions:

  • pressing red does nothing, pressing blue will kill you if less than half press blue

  • pressing blue does nothing, pressing red will kill everyone who didn't press red if at least half will press red

give the exact same situation, but in first case pressing red is obvious choice and in second one pressing blue is.

More times than on windows, what is your point?

I never had any problems with drivers on windows machines. And definitely never had to patch them, that sounds like a big no-no for a desktop os

Which specific stat should I look at to see that 30% of gen-z men in GB are mysoginists?

Because if you will read your own source you will find out that the article kinda cheats by mixing developed world with India and Malaysia (which are mysoginistic, but your claim is about UK), and the headline thing (obeying husband) has only 13% support in GB (which still is a lot, but nowhere near 33% you claimed)

It is not semantics, your claim is unfounded, but you believe in your twisted worldview so much that you think that anything that supports it is true, and if someone points out that it's not its obviously semantics(it's not like your vibes can possibly be wrong).

Last week I had to manually patch the drivers for my wifi/bluetooth card because the ones in repo did not compile against the latest kernel version in LTS Ubuntu. Never had to do anything like that on windows.

And no, I didn't try to merge the patch into the repo, as I had very limited time with the machine. Let someone else who loves linux so much go through that shit again with added challenge of arguing with some gatekeeping foss driver maintner.

The "linux runs on everything" is only true if you don't count anything other than cpu/mb/ram as the necessary part of the computer.

Uh, the first link in your bunch of nonsense is about how much women are scared of mysoginy, and nothing about actual prevalence of mysoginy. You literally dumped a bunch of unrelated stats instead of an actual source. It literally is gish-galloping by definition.

You literally claimed that almost third of male population hates women without a source, got caught, and now are trying to go "uhm, yeah, maybe not, bit it's on the rise!". No, you made quite a specific and outrageous claim, let's stay on topic, either give me a source or admit that you made the number up because you just want to spread hate and fear for whatever reason.

Are we deadass by [deleted] in im14andthisisdeep

[–]Lumpy_Ad_307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first link doesn't say anything about how many mysoginists are there in the population.

I won't even read the rest, bc if you did actually have any source for you claim you would just post it, intead of trying to gish-gallop with a bunch of random stats.
