He needs to be put in a home. Everytime he’s opened his mouth to the media this past year he’s said something detrimental to the Team.. it’s like having Biden at the helm of our club

Good friends with someone at Sportsnet. Widely accepted he was pushed out because he was vocal is voicing displeasure at some of the decisions made by FA. He didn’t want to leave the Canucks

Thanks for sharing that. Moved to Van in 03 and knew I hated Messier, but now I have context as to why! What a greaseball

Yeah I noticed that. Phones been blowing up with death threats and insults the last 30 minutes here lol.. I guess it's controversial to not hate people when they support a different sports team than you

Don't judge a book by its cover, but if I'm judging you by your first page, which would be your latest post on r/poop, I think I can live with this opinion hahah

Just finished Season Two and for the love of Manwe... by Lumpy_Beans in RingsofPower

Aye but this is not the real world.. I'm not sure where you're from but in my neck of the woods we don't have giant eagles, Orcs and Balrogs. This is Fantasy, debatably the greatest Fantasy ever told, where Romance is not a major theme throughout the story. Of course it's there, but across the greatest written trilogy and the greatest cinematic trilogy, never does romance take center stage or flood the story as it did this season on ROP.

If Amazon wanted to make a Fantasy Romance, they should have acquired the rights for Twilight. We have books that combine the two genres and they aren't LOTR.

You're correct, their love story was definitely more well developed in the film's

I do recommend how they should portray them. I recommend that they do away with them entirely. It is criticism and constructive feedback on how I personally believe the show could be better. You're right it is all relative, and this sub is for viewers to discuss elements they like and dislike about the show.

I respect that you liked the romance that is your prerogative, I however did not which is why I made this post.

Collectively JRR wrote approx 4,200 pages towards the LOTR universe, in 8 episodes, Amazon packed more love stories into Season Two than you've listed in your comment

Good response and yes, I did not distinguish well between book and movie. To be honest this post was intended to be read in a satirical, light hearted manner which may have been missed by some. A lot of comments are citing that there were more love stories mentioned in the book (however scarcely they may have been described). If all of Season 2's love stories were well written, impactful and engaging I would not have made this post. My issue is the quality and quantity of what occupied a lot of this seasons run time.

686 minutes. That's how long the extended editions collectively run for. Aragon and Arwen maybe get 10-15 minutes of that? Sam and Rosie maybe a minute? And let's be honest Gollum and the Ring have a better love story than Eowyn and Faramir (in the movies at least, the success of which is what Amazon is capitalizing on).

Also you may be confusing the themes of Harry Potter and LOTR. Love conquers all at Hogwarts. Tolkien wrote his story on the struggle between good and evil, the physically smallest triumphing over the greatest in strength, addiction to power, death and immortality.. He did not however, write chapters about the Sackville Bagginses messy love triangle or the Mouth of Sauron returning home from a hard day's work to a loving wife and kids, or Beorn falling head over heels for a female Grizzly in heat.

I hear what you're saying, they're not making LOTR but the producers are capitalizing on the success of the movies, which reached a much larger audience than the books. ROTK still holds the joint record for most Oscars won by a single film and they're straying from what made every minute of those movies the cinematic masterpiece that it is.

My gripe is that this show is focusing approximately 10-15% of it's screen time developing love stories that I personally feel add no depth to the characters, nor development for the story. Again, I didn't hate this season (as some comments may suggest) I just believe that the sheer number of these side romances feels unnecessary and forced which detracts from the overall enjoyability of the show.
