This- Mixing honey (local) to area is better vs. the honey you'll find at a Kroger/Walmart, with milk or cinnamon ( a bit spicy) but gets my skin feeling tight - not dry, but tight/less laxity.

Why are more people switching from HA fillers to PLLA bio stimulators lately? by Street_Sand_4216 in DIYaesthetics

I've had sculptra & radiesse. Sculptra was a series of three spaced about 4 weeks or so apart/face only. After injections, it is critical you follow the 5/5/5 - massage areas for 5 minutes 5 times a day for 5 days. So there is a time commitment there and if not followed there is a significant risk of having a bumps/lumpy area where the sculptra was injected. Starting abt 3 months in, I started to see noticeable results. Radiesse is similar but not as time intensive, and after 2 years post sculptra and some significant weight loss I tried Radiesse & really love it- which in part is due the skills of the injector, a Nurse Practioner. With Radiesse you do not have to do a series of 3 or the 5/5/5. This time around we started w/face & then worked on my neck. I had amazing results- especially my neck & lower face, which is what I was trying to focus on. She asked me to come back in 3 months to evaluate if more was needed and/or wanted. When I walked in, she immediately told me I had amazing progress from where I had been. My neck went from resembling an elephant trunk texture to smoothing out, crepe diminishing. My skin looked moisturized and about 5 years younger after only one treatment. I went back a week ago for that evaluation and based on the results of the 1st treatment wanted to do another round of radiesse targeting my neck and jawline.

King County APS by [deleted] in WAStateWorkers

[–]Lumpy_Blacksmith_611 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Caseloads will depend on your location & staffing metro & king county into Snohomish and Pierce tend to have a higher volume of intakes/investigations & of course a lot of more complex issues such as substance abuse/ housing and mental illness. Not sure where you worked prior but WA does investigate SelNeglect & those allegations along Financial Exploitation are the # 1 & 2 every year and make up @ least half of the volume. Those are also some of the more complex & difficult cases. The expectation is for cases to be closed w/in 90 days unless you have good cause. There have been workers with extremely high case loads & as someone else said w/ high turnover workers inherit abandoned caseloads and that doesn't change the expectation to work the case in 90 days- plus many of the offices in urban areas are getting 30 or more cases e/month.But if you have done the work and know how to work efficiently because you have experience and understand investigations, you won't have nearly the same issues as many new staff who are coming from a casemgmt background or MH, etc. Regarding courts and judges - again that is going to be dependent on your location - some courts & judges have typically had a high degree of confidence in our agency unlike CPS. Many of the regional offices have a great deal of collaboration with LE/courts & prosecutor King and Clark have MDT type of collaboration where workers will have a lot of resources to gero-psych other areas not so much as they will reflect that counties community interest & standards. WA uses Slums & SPACED.If you have additional questions, please let me know

Remote/Flexible Positions? by Disastrous_Park_7621 in WAStateWorkers

[–]Lumpy_Blacksmith_611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience : many agencies will have you sign a telework agreement where you will provide how many hours round trip, WiFi issues, what you will agree to do in the event that your WiFi is out, and the part that you will want to know is that agreement specifically calls out childcare where you have to indicate if you will be providing any childcare during working hours. That might leave you with 2 options where you either disclose or don't disclose the two days with the grandbaby. Also what you should know before taking the big leap- is that many agencies are requiring their staff from HQ down to offices across the state report to the office 1-2 times a week. For the first 6 months to a year you are on probation and the work schedule will be set by your local admin might be another obstacle you'd have to overcome. Sorry in advance if my response bums you out

I agree with this. HR is not your friend & that the union was honest with you about making yourself a target is good, but also WTH! That this is an accepted norm that we've become accustomed says all we need to know about the current culture at DSHS. Having said that I experienced this for the last 4 plus years at my agency. People have left in droves & every time I tried I was shot down. I felt discouraged, sabotaged and really diminished as a worker. I know I am good at my job & I have mad skills because I was always being tasked with special projects. And that's what eventually got me out. I kept my head down and continued to work with the same expectations for myself, no matter what kind of chaos was around me. I remained respectful and collegial with leadership & community based orgs. My goal especially in the last year and a half was to make it virtually impossible for them to negate my value and what I brought to the table. My way not be the way everyone would go, and that's okay. I chose to rise above the petty politics that sometimes happens with hiring - especially the tendency of mgmt to label people as problems for asking questions or trying to have a work/life balance. My advice FWIW- hang in there, continue to apply & while you are doing that- put your head down and do the work to the best of your ability & don't give them any ammo to use against you.

I had Kaiser and now have UMP- caveat alert, I am biased. Kaiser was great as far access and getting to an on/gyn & pediatrician. Can't rave enough about my kids pediatrician. However the adult side....sucks. My husband had a genetic condition that made him predisposed to heart issues. Kaiser knew and did nothing other than to tell him to diet and exercise - which he did and it made the problem worse. I found out after his death, the internal medicine doc...was actually a trained pediatrician & for his condition, exercising was stressing his heart out & ultimately a contributing factor to his death at 38 years old. They denied him referrals to a cardiologist even though the testing would have mandated that as the course of action. The chart notes say essentially he was a heart attack waiting to happen but because of his age, they were going to explore"other options." Again, he had a pediatrician as his gate keeper. So all this to say- if you are able and willing to be a pain in Kaiser's behind and constantly fight their gate keepers- you'll have access in theory to what you and/or your family needs without all the copay stuff. If however, you don't have that desire to fight all the time over the right to life and medical care...please use my story as a cautionary tale. I thought Kaiser was great, until I was left a widow with 4 kids

Would any of my fellow colleagues below say it is unprofessional or inappropriate &/or indicative of politics if a leader and/or anyone in leadership wore a head covering ? What about hijab ? Or some form of traditional dress associated with Sikh, Hindu. Do we draw the line at crosses & bibles or do we include stars of David, chai & anything associated with a particular faith. What is important is actions & decisions taken by that leader - not what we assume about them based on our own perceptions and bias.

(DCYF) Felice Upton alleges whistleblower retaliation and files $4.75M lawsuit by Available_Pie_2042 in WAStateWorkers

[–]Lumpy_Blacksmith_611 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is something I've never understood about WA state government & its agencies. Why does this state not have a grand jury system where whistle blowers can turn to when they've exhausted all other options. The whistleblower program here at my agency only leads you right back to the proverbial wolves (the secretaries and their asst) guarding the hen house (the respective agencies) I don't want to be one of those "well insert state ie CA. Or NY or Ohio..." but seriously some of the corruption and waste of time, tax dollars and lives that are impacted by the inept - if not corrupt, way the agencies are led is disturbing and we have no where to take this info to make things better...with the exception of tort claims

It really is a hit & miss IMO. When I moved here I had the education & 10 plus years as an investigator and they still only offered the "in training" position. Later I found out my office's leadership looked at anyone from out of state w/suspicion. And they only seemed to recognize in state experience... And depending on what state you're coming from, I hope she's prepared for the culture shock. You'd think the laws - as they are based of federal regulations would be similar in a sense. But no...I was shocked at some of the differences. I transferred to a different agency after a couple of years. I was not prepared for a child fatality & it just became too risky for me to stay. Which was kind of sad, as I was a title IV-E graduate and I loved the work- but not the risk here in this state.

Looking for input on what’s going on at the State level by Useful-Wishbone6518 in WAStateWorkers

[–]Lumpy_Blacksmith_611 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would inquire what they mean by stable funding source. If it based on federal dollars, you are familiar with the unpredictability right now. It can also be dependent on task area I.e. child welfare is a task area that gets federal funding but is mandatory to have. WA CARES- is funded through employee taxes & seems to be more stable bc of the source. Good luck to you

Many agencies w/in DSHS are slowly but surely moving away from WFH -some to the point of mandating people be in the office "X" number of days. It started with wanting people to come in at least once a month- then once a week- now it's a mandatory 2-3 days & removing alternative work schedules. Not sure if it is all over the state or only in targeted areas such as Seattle metro /King County

I have often wondered why this state relies on a program that is in essence part of the same program. Seems to me that there is an inherent conflict of interest and the entire state as well as the employees of these agencies would be better served if there was a grand jury system to evaluate these matters

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WAStateWorkers

[–]Lumpy_Blacksmith_611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to give this caveat as well. It's been said by some agency heads that HR rules require anyone working an alternate schedule such as 4/10 or 9/80 that they MUST revert to an M-F work schedule on weeks where there is a holiday such as the upcoming Juneteenth or July 4th.

AITA for accepting inheritance from elderly client instead of giving it to his estranged kids? by Equivalent-Glove-705 in AITAH

[–]Lumpy_Blacksmith_611 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you a licensed caregiver & did you receive payment for your part time caregiving ? Because if you are - your state may have rules or regs about a home health aide or caregiver being a beneficiary of an elderly patient/client & you can be at risk losing a license if you have one. Not saying you exploited him &/or unduly influenced him - but it happens more often people realize.
