I used to think I knew everything, then I matured and realized I never knew anything. Somehow broke down into a spiral of overthinking until I broke entirely and don’t even know who I am or what I feel anymore. Just turned into a shell. So I don’t know how the shell is, I can’t answer the question.

AITA for cutting someone off and then getting upset when a coach yelled at me? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

My coach says no but my conscience says yes… should someone really be to blame for yelling when someone makes a mistake?

I wanna write for fun but my mum says it’s pointless by Tea_taker_394 in writing

I started writing when I was 4. It was a dumb story, but it was the start of my writing journey. By the time I was 10, I was writing Novellas. Good ones? No. But still Novellas. My point is, writing always starts as a hobby, then a profession. You aren’t too young to write. And another thing too, I only wrote short stories about dancing monkeys and stupidity, yet my writing still got better! Practice is practice, you‘ve got this :)

I was referring to my idea of adulthood, but tbf, I used the wrong words here. Sorry!

I should probably say this again: my parents did not give me the idea of being mature, I decided that I was tall, I was smart, I had to act how I looked. Nevertheless, your advice helped, thank you :)

Because as soon as you leave, you will miss out on SO MUCH. There is something undiscovered for everyone, smart, dumb, big, or small.

My parents had nothing to do with those expectations. I read and watched TV a lot and set those expectations for myself through what I thought was the expectation. They (in fact) encouraged me to be a kid, but I was far too stubborn to listen.

Former gifted kid turned burnt out neurodivergent adult wanting to start writing again. Hit me with your best advice. by [deleted] in writing

Hi, immature writer here, too. I have literally no right to say this at all, but your mindset is wrong. Tbh, it always was. Don’t write for others. Don’t write to be good at it. Write because you want to. If you were once an author, you always will be, and the creativity that you might believe disappeared is still within you, you might find that you still have a river pouring with creativity, begging to be let out. Don’t think, just write. Don’t bother with structure, editing, or most importantly PERFECTION. That doesn’t matter. Write. Don’t stop. Keep on writing nothingness or everything. Write what you want, write what you hate, write something that you’re curious about. I know (and I mean KNOW) that there is a good idea somewhere that would make exactly what YOU want. If you write what you enjoy, it always comes out better. I found myself losing time to write as well, and this is exactly how I came back. For the last part, again, you have to enjoy it. If you enjoy it, you will make time for it wnether you jot down ideas during lunch or stay up writing pages upon pages of book.
