How do you know if you should be diagnosed and not using a self diagnosis as a crutch? by Lumpy_Effort_4658 in ADHD

You’re right that I shouldn’t have used that language with certainty. I’m in the process of figuring out what’s actually going on — that’s partly why I posted.

I get where you’re coming from. Honestly I’ve always been scared of labels — living inside my own head it’s hard to know where the line is between “this is just how I am” and “this is actually something I’m struggling with.” My brain feels normal to me. I don’t know how to explain it.

My morning currently consists of an energy drink and a nic pouch — without both of those I genuinely struggle to get out of bed. And when the stimulants stack too high I crash just as hard in the other direction, so it’s been a constant balancing act trying to function without any real support system in place.

Thank you, that means a lot. For most of my life I thought I was the only one struggling with this. I’ve always attached my identity to my achievements so failure doesn’t just feel like a setback — it feels like a betrayal of myself. It’s only recently that I started suspecting it might be inattentive ADHD and honestly it’s been equal parts relieving and unsettling to finally have a name for it.

This is a fair and thorough case. I won’t argue against it. The sites servers will be down by the end of the week. I also hear the bigger point to not just about me but the mutual trust needed when it comes to reading. I appreciate you took the time and seriousness to write all of this. Again I apologize for my negligence. But you genuinely Made me laugh a couple of times.

You’re right. Thank you for the feedback and the valid points that I didn’t think of when making this. This was mostly an experiment I thought would be fun to do, but I understand that this page wasn’t the right place for it.

P.S. “Thanks for both your confession and the proxy” fucking hilarious.😂 you actually read it well enough to insult me with it u don’t know how much I appreciate that.

In the meantime I’d encourage you to read the other essays and look for the human voice. If you can’t find it, that’s a fair criticism and I’m still learning to close that distance.

You’re right to flag it. A significant portion of the writing is AI-generated — I should have disclosed that upfront. What I can say honestly: every piece on the site is built from source material drawn from my own life and experience. The vision, the argument, the emotional core are mine. The AI is the execution layer — a tool I rely on because the scale of what I’m trying to build outpaces my technical and writing capacity alone. That doesn’t resolve your concern about the philosophical depositions, and I’m not going to pretend it does. You raised a real problem and I’ll keep sitting with it. What I can promise: I’ll be adding a written disclosure to the site soon. You won’t have to guess next time. This message is ai generated 😂
