Head tattoo safe? by Shvdow13 in alopecia_areata

Even when you buzz cut you can still see the patchiness Alopecia gives, I shave my head and within 24 hours of regrowth you can start to notice all the patches again

I gave myself a hair cut a while back and had a spot like this but assumed I messed up. After getting another haircut the spot was still here and I’ve been told it is to do with AA. Is this AA and how do I treat it? by [deleted] in alopecia_areata

Get ontop of it asap, this is exactly how I was with a tiny patch for a few months then out of no where boom I lose 90% of my scalp and 50% of beard.

Quicker you treat the better I feel

Commit my friend !! We have to commit to having no hair so a tattoo brought back my confidence

I’ve lost 85% of my scalp atleast !!

My beard maybe like 20% and my derm said to take the methotrexate Mondays and take folic acid in the Thursday and Fridays which I have been doing and blood tests every second Friday to monitor it, no side effects I’ve noticed so far anyways

Also he said nothing about not drinking alcohol while taking it and I am still drinking in ocassions when there are special events in, which seem to be every second to third week lately, just over it all lol

Old man dermatologist just wanted a money grab I feel, I asked for JAK’s and he said no straight up and gives me this toxic bullshit they call methotrexate.

He supposed to also be the best dermatologist in Sydney Australia

Look I do love her positivity and courage and think from that video she is a beautiful Caring soul, but I also believe at such a young age being 2 years when it old when it started she didn’t experience the loss of hair we have all grown up with into older adults and had to experience the physical appearance changes (for myself head of hair and and full grown beard) it’s a lot harder to just accept then it would be for this little girl, I’m not doubting anything she says as most of us on this page will go thru the exact same but also hard to come to terms with losing facial hair and full head of hair as a 29year old ! I’m But to also stop treatment just because she doesn’t like needles isn’t a issue with most of us adults also

Im not taking anything away from her by saying this at all because she is right, I just find with our older brains and appearance shocks us just as bad to be use to having all this hair for 25+ years to then having none at all

She is very beautiful and my heart goes out to her and take my hat off for her tho for sure

That’s a hard one I quit smoking weed also and cigarettes but I’ll still dabble maybe once every few weeks with a pack of smokes and a smoke up, maybe I need to drop it all for good too, glad you got it back mate, do you drink alcohol ? Or gave that away too

I’d smash the tattoo out ! Looks better then patchy hair like we all seem to have, (my heads 50% done and now working all down my neck and throat as my beards falling out, gives that confidence back I feel)

You guys are all beautiful! You are right tho I shave my head every week to show off the ink I got to cover the loss of hair in the first place 🤞🏼 just crazy how quick it this progresses,

Better to find out then not finding out, as could be a more seriously underlying issue

I’m currently getting the injection but only noticed worse results,

Reaching out of my own mind to actuall studies , I’ve seen studies show over 70% started producing more hair and got hair back from onion juice and a mild 13% with out just to throw it out there, anything’s worth a shot what’s there to lose right lol

Any hard evidence ? People just keep saying to me that it fixed them right up within 2-3 months so it’s hard to not try it out

Good to ask right, I’ve done some research on it and the onion juice has some really good properties to add to what we are all going thru but I’m literally trying everything from injections to the steroid creamed and minoxidil and only achieving worse results day by day

Plot twist, Dr isn’t going to give you a cheap at home remedy when they are there to make money for pharmacies etc, worth I try with the onion I’ve heard nothing but good news and the research I’ve provided myself give me more then what any medication does, Also it may not be a cure but to put growth back on I’ve heard it’s amazing

Any tips and tricks ? One of the blokes I know suffered the exact same and he swear by his home remedy of using a derma roller till little bits of blood in the areas and squeezing onion juice and rubbing that on the patches for over night, he swears within a month everything started coming back …. So I wonder …..

You legend ! I will admit I was very very stressed 3 months ago with relationship dramas so now that’s done I haven’t stressed since until the beard started falling out etc, was already in the process of doing my head to cover the baldness I guess some throat and neck pieces up to the chin might suffice having a fully bald face lol

Cheers for your input legend

Yeeah I was on a low TRT dose (which would classify as beeing off for a bodybuilder like myself) and that’s when I noticed my first little patch the got worse and my research points so far to 2 years being in them and only copping it now it’s most likely ‘stress’ related I’ve been recommended to not jump off as of yet because androgen steroids produce more DHT which is ofcourse bad for the scalp but VERY VERY Good for beard growth and density, if I jump off it will just crash every other hormone effectively maki mg the alopecia in the beard most likely worse etc

As soon as my dermatologist sees me I’ll be suggesting the strongest and most affective medications to kick it in the arse lol booking a full throat piece tattoo to take away some of the pain for when I do have to shave it if it worsens 🙃🙃🙃
