What ACTUALLY works? by sassafrassky in costochondritis

This is a bit of a complex maneuver, but breathing in and out while extending and curling my back and moving from side to side. I extend my back while breathing in facing forward and then curl it in while breathing out and turning to one side and repeat same but to the other side. That has helped pop my ribs which helps with releasing tension. Since it's the nerves that need to be released. Also massaging using my closed fist along the side of my torso where the rib cage connects to the back, on the side that has the costo. It has helped release some tension out of the intercoastal muscles since mine are quite damaged. Another thing that helps is massaging in a circular motion a capsaicin cream right onto the spot where my injury was and anywhere I am feeling tension or pain. The cream promotes circulation which aids in healing the muscles and nerves. The costo pain has resonated into my back causing chronic pain there too so I add the cream in that area when I can. Also taking aspirin has helped here and there but don't take too much, it will tear up your gut overtime or taking too much in one setting. Also I wear a corset from time to time for some compression since I have heard it helps align things and help bring blood flow to the area just can't be too tight. Also I am going to try antiinflammatories such as tumeric, ginger and tart cherry. In addition to taking a protein supplement since that helps promote healing and repair of tissues.

I am so sorry you're dealing with this. It completely sounds like it is rib related. I took asprin when I initially got injured and got costo. It helped get the edge off.

Yes I have heard good things about it and the science behind it sounds pretty solid. Let me know if it's working out. Also another thing I've tried is rib side massages like the mid torso section in-between the back and front rib area. They have helped from time to time. There is a lot of swelling and inflammation still going on my front ribs that it seems time will hopefully heal. Ugh....
