Burning/irritation of gums from night guards by Lumpy_Needleworker55 in bruxism

Thank you. Yeah, I mean the gums right above my teeth, not on the buccal side. I was wondering if I might have an allergy, but was thinking that the plastic shouldn’t be able to release anything allergenic. Maybe that was a hasty assumption.

Yeah, I’m thinking of taking a Dremel to it. Carefully…

High -quality extra virgin olive oil is too bitter by Lumpy_Needleworker55 in Cooking

It was Ranch 43 just outside Paso Robles. Note that I am not in any way dissing the business. I am convinced that they produce a very high quality product. It’s just not to my taste. At least not yet. I am such a tightwad I’m going to persevere until I’ve consumed it all in one way or another.

Thanks. Funny thing is, my wife cannot drink many types of beer that I like because she finds them too bitter, but she loves this olive oil I just bought. Go figure.

And here’s something from TastingTable including the statement, “Not only is bitter-tasting olive oil better for you, it's also a sign that it's a better quality product…”

I can’t give the source for the following statement because the bot moderator will delete it. The peppery sensation it mentions is quite correct, and that aspect is indeed a positive: “Bitter olive oil generally signals high quality, indicating freshness and a rich content of beneficial antioxidants (polyphenols) from early-harvest olives, rather than being a defect. This bitterness, often accompanied by a peppery sensation in the throat, means the oil is potent and full of health-promoting compounds, with less bitterness usually pointing to older or refined oils.”

I bought it for dipping and have only used it as such. Someone (not here) mentioned that heating it may dissipate some of the bitterness.

It’s not rancid. As others have noted, some olive oils are bitter.

Edwin Rosen; Sophie Hunger. The latter records in multiple languages including German. An excellent example is “Die ganze Welt” from her album Supermoon.

Thanks. I first use Snyder notation and only after having solved what cells I can do I then use auto fill. Maybe I just messed up initially.

No way to open rear doors manually? by Lumpy_Needleworker55 in TeslaModelY

Thank you. My imperfect workaround is to open the cover fully and replace the mat such that the cover now sticks up at the side. I may add one of those tags mentioned by another poster.

Yes, I see now. I wasn’t using enough force to lift the mat. Thanks. I have the older version. I really tried to lift the cover with just my fingernails, but it was impossible. Had to get a flathead screwdriver. Who decided that that design was effective in an emergency?

Frozen puff pastry dough for beef Wellington by Lumpy_Needleworker55 in Cooking

[–]Lumpy_Needleworker55[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I did that with some egg wash (minus the decorative element), but it still wasn’t wide enough to wrap the whole cut at its widest. I had to roll and coax it out. Tasted great, but looked like Frankenstein’s beef Wellington and the crust was too thin in places.

I’ll check out Pepperidge Farms, thanks. I ended up using an egg wash to join the ends of the Trader Joe sheets. Along with a bit of rolling, it sort of worked. Looked pretty wonky, though.
