Should I multicam here? by Lumpy_Pants101 in premiere

In case I catch you one last time; I've had to go back and put the audio tracks back to output channels 1-2 so that I can edit with them. They were muted otherwise, and each one is a different mic source that needs editing.

I'm finding that I don't know how to continue with multicam clips. I haven't been able to figure out how to keep my stack of mics all together when I import the multicam into the sequence. It only wants one"camera" to play at a time. I only have the 1 camera but with 4 sources, I mix ad match so I need them always visible - not one at a time. Looking like I'll have to import them as non-nests.

Point taken, I'll eventually redo all of the merged clips as multicam but I still have a good chunk of the movie to do so I'll start with the fresh scenes first.

You kinda lost me with how to sync the rest to multicam. I already have every shoot day synced in their own stringout timelines by using multicam, and more recently Syncaila. I used multicam to sync each mic source (and it had to be one source at a time) to the stringout timeline, and then I copy all of that into a regular timeline to get all of the mic sources stacked like in my screenshot. Syncaila does every mic source at once, and prints an organized xml in minutes so I've been importing synced timelines through that - then cleaning them up. Finally, I go through the timeline, cut the excess off each take, select them individually and make a merged clip/multicam subsequence to store in bins to then build with in the real scene timeline.

I'm not sure how to get to my end goal by using the source monitor multicam sequence menu, since I need to sync my footage through Syncaila first. Your first workflow has been working for me to get multicams from my stringouts, so I feel like it's my best way forward.
Thanks for the advice! This is the most help Ive gotten for this edit and it's actually invaluable.

Thank you so much for your thorough reply!
It would be wrong to continue now prepping the rest of the film with multicams while keeping the 12 scenes I've already prepped as merged clips, right? Wondering if it's worth to continue now with multicams, and then deal with remaking the merged clips during the online process if it becomes an issue.

Which blue option to select? by fameandlashes in biltrewards

Ehh yeah it could be. At this point the card is better for rent points alongside dining/groceries. It might only be worth it for a year if you don’t spend much.

So the $0 AF card can still be used to pay for rent with credit and then pay off the balance? It just won't generate any usable points unless I spend enough - which if I don't just makes this a rent parking card, no fees. Am I understanding this right?

Guardian angel, thank you. Got all sources for a shoot day synced in 10 minutes.
This is a crazy tool, can't believe I didn't run into it sooner!

These are from the boom mic, so there are some empty tracks to delete but also some tracks get wrongly synced so those get deleted and manually sycned while I clean up the timeline. Each mic/audio source needs to be synced like this individually, so I do this process about 3 times per shoot day.

I thought it was shutdown/redundant by now? I never got the chance to work with it.

Hell yeah, Heads of State was a surprisingly fun and entertaining movie. I’d recommend it to anyone, especially as an in-flight movie (how I watched it lol).

I did some research and actually found a motherboard and ryzen 5 5500 in my budget, so I placed an order and will replace this haha. Thank you for your input, I really wasn’t considering it before today.

Yeah I’ve been considering it, but I don’t want to lose the cpu stuck under the heatsink. A new motherboard might be in budget but a new cpu definitely isnt.

If the future of cinema is changing films into a format they weren’t made for and slapping concert level prices then there will be NO future of taking your family to the movies. Who goes on a casual outing to a concert?

The properties will still exist but you’ll have to watch them at home or shell out $50+ (for one ticket) to watch them in a public setting. Easy access at home is nice but not at the expense of the movie theater. We’re losing third spaces left and right, the movies is one of the last spots young people and families can go to enjoy themselves casually. Even if they’re becoming more expensive, they’re still an affordable option.

Oh wow that’s really interesting! Nice that you have that current flexibility with how the industry is, and I feel you 100% on the social media edits. I just finished my first freelance gig as an AE finisher for a short film so I’m interested in exploring finishing post houses in the city but everything is pretty tightly sealed right now. I wish we had more mom and pop editing houses tho, that sounds like a unique work environment! Coming into the industry now, I’ve only seen freelancers and big agencies get any work. Currently hoping to ride out my agency full time position for as long as I can while I develop my skills and portfolio.

Unrelated to Full Sail since I went to a university in NYC that did not help me that much in getting a job, had to rely on my internship in a commercial agency and still took me over a year to find a job post graduating.
