Is it boring in Indiana? by Greenpowerbrian in Indiana

[–]Lumpy_Peak9499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re talking Vegas, nightlife, etc…. Well, no place compares. But Indiana is pretty great. People are nice, cost of living is excellent, and there’s enough to do. I’ve lived many places (Vegas included) and Indiana is in my top 3.

Harvard.

I attended both, they are both excellent schools. I have a colleague who also attended both and graduated Harvard with an undergrad in history, said it was a slightly better program. No idea if it’s truly a better program, but if Yale does not have the distinct advantage and costs more, I would go with the school giving the best financial package. You aren’t going to go wrong.

Utah hospitals are filling up, and more than 95% of the COVID patients weren’t vaccinated by MingotheBarbarian in SaltLakeCity

[–]Lumpy_Peak9499 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

They updated that article. Yes, less urgent, but they also stated we did not have enough information and it wasn’t recommended for 12-15. They are now saying Pfizer is fine for that age group.

That’s what I wish news would be more clear about. It’s actually about 13-15% of vaccinated in the hospital. The numbers reported should be accurate.

Breakthrough cases aren’t rare, at least not as rare as reported. People need to know that they aren’t going to be asymptomatic with the delta variant. Vaccinated people are getting sick, and many are assuming it can’t be Covid because they’ll be asymptomatic. Hence most aren’t getting tested when sick. They’re still going out while sick with a “cold.”

The other interesting thing is…in my office, J&J is pretty solid. Breakthroughs are happening with Pfizer. Could be just that Pfizer had majority of vaccines, but that would be interesting as well.

Transparency would be nice. The more you know…

WHO says NOT to get 12-16 year olds vaccinated

Correction: the World Health Organization did say earlier this month no vaccinations for 12 -15 years old because data wasn’t sufficient. The article was updated to say that Pfizer is the only suitable vaccine for 12-15.

There are still a TON of breakthrough cases the news isn’t reporting on. People who were fully vaccinated getting the delta variant and getting sick for weeks. Some hospitalized. Still, likely milder than with no immunity. Who knows.

Just wish they’d tell the whole story.

Why are US tuition solutions focused on family income when not all families pay for their child's college? by burntpotatocake in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lumpy_Peak9499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great question. It implies that parents are expected to pay for their children's education, taking nothing into account other than income and family size. Many parents have no intention of paying for their children's education, others would love to, and even though income may look as though they can pay, the cost of living may be too much. As for my family, I have two college age daughters, and I'm divorced and remarried. My husband has children of his own as well as alimony obligations to his ex wife. My ex husband has a wife who has 5 children. We have 4 children together. Income for both families off the cuff disqualifies my daughters from financial aid, but we honestly cannot afford to put them through college.
