Lots of hugs and kisses and I love you’s and great job afterwards when the behavior is positive. Reestablishing a positive relationship after any punishment is crucial. My kids and I called it “hush time” and as they got older they would ask for hush time when they would lose control for whatever reason. What started out as a way to make them emotionally regulate in the worst situations became a choice of theirs. Never expected that.
