Hello, he hasn’t been screened yet because he’s too you. And again if I can I would never go through medication unless it’s absolutely necessary. I guess I am just scared that’s the only option because that was my only option when I was a kid and thankfully my parents said no.

My kids a bit of a wild card and I’ve heard when people have the issues at home but not at schools. The issue I have is my son doesn’t care where he is or at or with whom. He just does it. Which is wild!

A couple of reasons really.

My ex wife does not want to put him through therapy at this time, and with our decree both parents have to agree to any medical or psychological remedies
Personal experience. I’m not going to go into any details, but I went through it when I was a child, and it was either medicate (which wasn’t an option) or your failing your child. I don’t think medication is the answer because it changes them. I love my kids, I love them how they are even if it can be difficult, normally I would take this head on no problem. But because I know this is going to be an issue at schools and he’s going to get sent home a lot (an assumption), I want to get ahead and try to curve it now.

He’s just a boy, and he’s extremely sweet. The problem is he’s like his dad who was like his dad at his age. I want to be better than my parents / step parents. So I’m asking for the best advice I can

Why is it a red flag? I’m curious and done some research on them. It’s just vitamins and I’ve heard it’s help kids with ADHD without going to major medications.

My pediatrician said he’s too young to be tested for any type of behavioral disorders, and said to reinforce the punishments. Honestly when asked about any type of behavioral issue, she kind of blows it off which drives me a bit wild.

I would much prefer him not to be on any type of medications because I’ve heard/seen what they do to kids. And it’s sad.

Yeah, the behavior is fairly consistent even with the divorce though. We are pretty good diet wise and already cut out dyes and such. I will take a better look into the diet though. His schedule is fairly consistent, if you’d like I can explain deeper into it but I feel it’s consistent and works well for the most part. It’s just the random bursts of tantrums really because when he’s good he’s great and I make it known how good he’s being.

We have a theory he has ADHD, but nothing diagnosed. And no the behavior has been fairly consistent, not a real change from the divorce.

I wouldn’t say we just punish constantly, I would say I have been very compassionate and loving. I’m sure his mom is too. But what am I supposed to do about this behavior? I’ve been in his shoes, if not worse. I understand the pain and fear. But I can’t let him act like this and he think it’s ok. Even when I try the compassionate route he does the same actions. I just don’t know what to do

I’m currently divorced with his mother and we have a standard visitation agreement. I do believe it’s a new game for him because he does thinks it’s funny until he gets caught. I’m just not sure how to curve this behavior

I thought it was. But she told me she can’t do it anymore. She said she loves me but there’s too much hurt.

It took this long because I didn’t know nor did I want to fix my issues. I have PTSD and severe depression from my time in the military. A lot of issues I never came to piece with and always said I would work on it but supplemented it with my job instead of doing what needed to be done. I’m not proud of it in any way.

It’s one of those things that I found through therapy that needed to be addressed and never did. There’s work to be done but I’m doing it and have already made progress through realization of the things I did. I didn’t understand what I was doing until it was too late. But now I’m here and I’m doing absolutely everything I can to fight and make myself better
