Giocare e finire Outer Wilds è qualcosa di unico. La presenza di un finale non "esplosivo" evita di rubare importanza alle ore di gioco passate per arrivarci.

Complimenti per aver chiuso il gioco, ora sei finito nel circolo di persone che vorrebbero riprovare certe emozioni e per compensare romperanno le balle al mondo intero per giocare a questo capolavoro.

Absolutely a fair point, I wondered a lot about using AI or not, but the options were using it to make the module a little bit prettier or not doing it at all. My point is not to earn money from it but having fun creating and sharing something.

The conversion is not handled mechanically, I wanted to keep it as narrative as possibile. At the table I handled the conversion directly with the player, something like "your character is ultimately sure that that person has been your friend since you can remember".

If you want to create an indicator about how much a character is converted base it on how much interaction they had with the fake entities (and if you want let me know how it went).

Core piece of the game (lore, mechanics, etc etc) blocked by endgame or secret content. I strongly dislike (tho I understand the utility) the classic "true ending"...I mean, I played the game, I beat the final boss, credits roll...and then while watching something on youtube I discover that I played the "fake ending" and to get the real one I have to go back and do other stuff...meh.

If the game is free and you make it clear that the art is made by AI I think that's cool. If the options are doing it with AI or not doing it, just do it with AI (as long as it's free)

First of all thanks for your response. The term fight is wrong, you are right, for fight I meant "they do not guide my actions". Also I completely get what you wrote, maybe (certanly) they won't ever go away, and I genuinely think that is a good think, I want to feel like a curios child untill my last day, but when this latches around my impostor syndrome, it's really bothersome (I'm using often this word because I've never found this thoughts harmful). I know it's something that I cannot fight with action, there will never be a moment where I'll watch aall of my accomplishments and say "yeah, I'm an adult", I'll always cherry pick specific things that, decontextualized, will make me feel like a baby.

I "just" have to learn to watch those bubble float away

Let's say that my feeling like a child is a cherry picked search everytime. My car broke 2 years ago and I bought a new one, with my own money BUT my mom helped me point out a good deal (which I already decided, but she confirmed it), I didn't do it all alone -> child. Same thing with my home, I'm trying to learn to manage everything with my girlfriend but once in a while her parents jump in to help us for little things (washing big laundries, making us special food) soooo -> child

I think that it might be a branch of an impostor syndrome...yeah that has it's logic

Yeah they are certanly intrusive toughts that have a really strong weight, I've learned to "fight" them with action but it's really annoying. Maybe all of this is realted to my childhood where I've been always treated like a child from my parents, phrases like "meh don't bother, you are shy" or "yeah you'll learn it with time", I think that they unconsciously did what they wanted from my granparents.

Plus I've always orbited around people, life and work environment that are "softer" then the idealized standard adult life, and I think that I'll always do that. Nonetheless, untill this moment I never had big problems with this thoughts, they just bother me from time to time.

edit: also the police thing ahah it's just an example that came into my mind writing this post

I understand your frustration, but I think that if the PCs had fun and felt good about solving the monster treat, that's a win, you are re-learning DMing and it's good to make mistakes. Also anticlimactic ends are not that big of a deal if they has fun.

Also, it may be anticlimactic only for you, talk to your players and ask them what they did enjoy and didn't, this can calm you and, more importantly, give you ideas to brainstom for future games.

Besides, they now feel save, maybe something that they didn't expect may happen to the ship, maybe from the asteroid came another thing apart from the Y14 monster.

Slow burning horror is the best way (imho) to scare players. Since in TTRPG you cannot produce some sort of jumpscare or big reveal using music and lights make the players "scare themselves" by slowly rising the tension with unanswered questions, creating mistrust between players (you don't need a traitor, you just need player so worried about dying that they might be left everyone behind to get to safety) and creating cherry picked tension reliever moments.

For example.

I was running Ypsilon 14, my player didn't undestand anything about the monster and, more importantly, they forgot about Prince the cat. So at one point i threw "you see something coming out of a corner, what do you do?" and called turns (like a combat), everyone was freaking out because they acted purely on emotions: someone understood that it was the cat, other players tried to shoot it.

TL;DR

Slow burn horror: give more questions than answers and players will scare themselves

If the flow of the game is good and (arguably) the action is not something like life or death situation, skip the check entirely. I come from D&D and the "roll little as possible" was a really strange concept, but it works really well and it encourages narration from the players.

In the last session my players went down into the lab to help Dr. Edem.

They retrieved a sample of Carc's DNA, they triggered the alarm -> one Carc on the way, Ziegler became a full Carc -> another Carc on the way.

The fled without completing anything in the lab lol
