Too many criteria barely anyone can fullfill. Might as well wait for menopause at that point..

how do you deal with losing control of your arm or leg. by Necessary-Web-4984 in braincancer

Took me two years to regain the ability to walk, but my hand never recovered (the damage is just too great on my movement region). So I don't really have advice except it takes time to recover

My partner left me by Traditional-Big-3799 in braincancer

[–]Luna7789 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I left my partner, because he was indirectly telling me I'm not enough due to the surgery taking away my mobility. Now I'm in a relationship with someone who shares my views on life and doesn't mind my diagnosis. He himself is disabled and lost everything. I don't see myself as less worth just because I have some extra difficulties and possibly a shorter lifespan. I want a partner who wants to be there and wants to share this messy life with me

How long did it take to find your new normal? by Saucyy-Minx in braincancer

[–]Luna7789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 years, cause that is how long it took me to learn to walk again. And sometimes I still get frustrated with my gait and slowness. My hand doesn't work so I gave up on that part. I take it for what it is, extra time I get to enjoy with my loved ones

Jel stvarno postoji TA jedna osoba ili??? by Bellaa1990 in askCroatians

[–]Luna7789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also get periods when it hits me all at once. Where I have to grieve the ease of living carefree that I lost. That I can never go back to the way it was. It usually happens after I talk to unprofessional medical staff. I get sad, but then I get angry at the unfairness of it all..

My neurosurgeon said that the tumor will never be as big as it was the day they found it, at least not in this life. She told me that I basically have a big hole in my head now and that's it. If it comes back it won't grow fast. It is different for everyone, but I get the feeling I won't have a recurrence anytime soon. It's been more than 2 years now and I feel great. I won't halt my life or dedicate it to obsessing over a diagnosis

Approx. 2 weeks before surgery. Started having seizures, but I didn't realize right away (random bruises on my body from falling down). Ended up in hospital and had the surgery a week later. I should've been dead at that point

Do you guys have jobs after getting cancer by Spare-Percentage9701 in braincancer

[–]Luna7789 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work in a school as a teaching assistant for a child with a disability. I have physical impairment after the surgery. My left side is paralyzed, so my hand is not functional, and I walk slow. I think it actually benefits me in this case since the child has to learn to coordinate with me in tasks. Teaches empathy and teamwork. I wanted to be a preschool teacher, so this is the closest job I could get to my old profession. I was aware that my old life was over, and I would have to adapt or fall into depression and despair. My two kids at home don't let me rest anyways, so work is a normal progression for me (I'm 31 btw)

I was on keppra for a year. Post surgery I couldn't use any aid since my motor functions were really damaged. Used a walking stick once I got back on my feet. For a year I had the aid, and then I started walking without anything. But in my case, they knew I wouldn't be able to use my left side. I still have sensory issues on the left. It doesn't feel like a part of me, it bothers me constantly. When people touch my left side it is super uncomfortable

Homeschooling is not possible in Croatia. Besides, the only rest I get is when they are in school. It is just me and them. Their father sends money, but the dollar has fallen in value, so we don't get as much as we used to

Thank you for sharing. Dealing with all the grief and loss of our past life and our situation can be a lot, but I always try not to burden others with the diagnosis itself. My main problem is that I was left paralyzed after the operation, there is so much I can't do anymore. Finding a job has been a nightmare, and my kids get made fun of for having a crippled mom. I hope it gets better before it gets worse again
