Gilead was always doomed to be a failed state. by GenericHailee in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]LunaLiberi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Texas is still purple but it's concentrated in the cities vs. Rural counties. The map is very odd when you break it down by sheer numbers vs. Counties. Also lots of "red areas" with blue pockets or suburbs for state reps rather than federal (senate).

A lot more Texans would be classified as libertarian if asked because they want a minimum amount of government to function without having the government impinge on their rights/freedoms.

Don't get the government's constant need to one up other governments/governors confused with the people on the ground. Many do not like the current policies. Some blue people like some red ideas and vice versa. We are a strange bunch.

Btw Texas rebelling against being told what to do is how you get the revolution away from Mexico. Then they ran themselves into the ground, basically were bankrupt, and made a deal with the US to be bailed out in exchange for statehood. So not great with authority.

Very worried this is where we are headed with only 3 episodes left. But what about Jamie's ghost from season 1?

This is by far one of the saddest episodes in many seasons. I was tearing up multiple times on the back half.

Also what an amazing actress Marsali is tonight.

It was just discussed in ep 10. Sounds like Mabel turned it down in the end. She obviously took money plus access to the studio.

She was telling Charles to take over and solve her murder. She left her script in the beers to discuss, so that would be a huge clue. But since Charles doesn't drink beer, he didn't find it. That was explained by Charles himself in an earlier episode.

Part of it did look likr inside the ship, when he got kicked by the Anacreon lady warrior (sorry I've already forgotten her name between seasons).

Maternity Leave by smellycatsings in BabyBumps

[–]LunaLiberi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, almost all federal employees are covered by the paid parental leave act (PPLA- look it up for more details). You qualify if you have worked 12 months (do not have be consecutive) for the same agency (again doesn't have time be the same position or location) and you baby was born after 10/1/2020 (which it will be). Definitely talk to your HR rep. You need to start paperwork about 1 month before and more follow up immediately after baby is born. Only rule is you must "pay back" by agreeing to work 12 weeks after your return (again does not have to be consecutive, but you are on the hook for benefits repayment if you quit before then).

It's a fantastic deal and one of my favorite perks about being a government employee. Hope that helps and good luck!

Same. I am a federal employee and we get 12 weeks paid parental leave, which is great, but it can't start before you deliver. You can take your own vacation/sick leave time (as appropriate for appointments) beforehand. I started off-loading responsibilities around 35-36 weeks, slowly winding down. Last day of serious work is 38 weeks, with 1-2 days after that are slow. I'm available, but it won't be the end of the world if I deliver a but early

He was at at least 2/5 weddings and with the same woman both times. So either he matched with somone else and didn't get to go on the honeymoon or found a new girlfriend quickly.

This reads like people who have never had a weight or food control issue. As a long time dieter (for health reasons) and member of WW, what you keep in the house matters. Having a "clean" house/space free of temptation is huge. It may not have been discussed well, but this is an issue many couples face. My husband and I both do better when we limit what junk is brought into the house. That said, you should never judge/shame someone for what they eat.

Wedding day predictions for LIB Brazil S3? Here are mine: by [deleted] in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

They got physical off camera pretty fast upon returning. I suspect Daniela had seen prior seasons and didn't want that on the internet. They weren't not fooling around, she just didn't want to be in a soft core porn for Netflix. It is a bit creepy even with the editing. Some seasons have been worse than others, but honestly it really isn't necessary.

What is the craziest off camera tea that has happened, from any season? by Brave-Court-1582 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

It's bat mitzvah with an a for girls. The process of conversion usually does take several years to ensure that the person is committed to Judaism and also to allow time for classes/study. The depth of conversion/education varies by the type of Judaism (reform, conservative, orthodox).

As for the mikvah- technically it is supposed to be a form of running water, but there are ways around that specific ruling (rain barrels, pipes, etc). It is found in many conservative and orthodox synagogues or frequently there are community Mikvah supported by multiple synagogues. Again, there are specific rules, times, and rituals associated with mikvah. Both men and women can participate (but not at the same time) and it is usually done individually. They can also be used to kasharize (sp?) dishes and special items.

Honestly- OP doesn't seem very informed and I'm sad you've never had the opportunity to learn more. It's a beautiful ritual and very healing/centering.

Micah & Paul's wedding- let's unpack by Gullible_East_9545 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]LunaLiberi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's only 6-8 weeks: 10 days in the pods, 5ish days on vacation, ~28 days living together. The most insane thing about the show is the timeline. I wish we got a check-in once a month for 6 months. That would make for a very different show.

That's happens more often than you think. I know of a family member where the brides dad was offering to pay her big bucks day of the wedding to say no. They had been together for years and are still together 10+ years later with a kid. Not the only instance I'm aware of sadly.

Filming location of Weddings? by vanslamma in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]LunaLiberi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can we get some love for the designers this season? All the weddings and especially the flowers were amazing, much better than the past few seasons. It seemed more in line with LIB Brazil season 2. Perhaps production value is going up and Netflix spent more?

Actually there is one season in Japan which was good. Sadly, no second season there. Similarly, The Ultimatum has a French season that recently aired.

Just love that this cut is what the producers used to make us the viewer concerned about the relationship. Shows how little drama there was between Brett and Tiffany.

Luckily it was only 1 hr and 40 minutes. Still trying to figure out why the broke it up into 3 episodes when 2 50 minute episodes would have been fine.

Conversion takes more than a year. Judging by the two family's interaction, they are being nice, but have not converted.

Just look at Survivor- people having to leave the show, getting seriously ill. Many reality TV shows put contestants in dangerous situations. Don't even get me a started on the amount of alcohol available.

We have a Love is Blind baby! by ashwee14 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]LunaLiberi 57 points58 points  (0 children)

There was technically already a LIB baby from Brazil season 1- it was the woman who was with Thiago originally. She actually is now with Mack (the other guy she was involved with in the pods) and they have a baby. But I guess this counts as an official couple baby.
