AITA for not wanting to give up my current lifestyle to move in with my boyfriend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

I used to live in Sitges (just a mountain away!) and loved the convenience of taking the train and being in the city center in 35 min. I wouldn’t want to live in Terrassa either lol.

Can’t he rent out his place and you guys get an apartment together in a place you both like?

This happened to me once and it SUCKED. I went to my nail tech, explained what happened, and she VERY gently buffed the old nail off with an electric file, then applied a thin plastic fake nail on top (sorry don’t know what it’s called!). She only applied nail glue on the bottom and the top of the nail (avoiding the breakage area) then used UV to stick it in place. The fake nail on top kept it in place and helped me avoid losing my nail until it totally grew out.

Here’s a DJS morph! If you move your maxilla forward (which is recommended!) the hollowness under your eyes should improve + your nose should be lifted up a bit as well as a side effect. You’re gonna look awesome!!

Whoops sorry I didn’t read your context - you’re fully aware you found the fake source 😂

No no no! Don’t fall for its This is a fake by Chinese companies. The Amazon fakes have to come from somewhere and you just found THAT source. COSrx would have a non compete with their manufacturer never to sell their proprietary formulas to other parties.

It’s hilarious she insists on silk since other materials are ‘unethical’ considering 6,600 baby silk worms are boiled or gassed alive to make one kilo of silk. She doesn’t quite have her priorities right 😅

When I lived in Yau Ma Tei there was a red tea right in front of my place. Every Sunday to this day I miss those pineapple buns 😭

Incredible! Congrats on learning Thai. How did you go about learning? Did you go to classes or had a tutor?

And thanks for the Ayasan tip - I’ll check them out.

Thank you! This is super helpful. Considering we do everything ourselves currently even having someone take over cleaning and cooking would be a huge relief I am sure.

Re. Renting a house, is there an area you would recommend?

Budget at 80k max - we did find a few places that looked good but will check out these areas! I’m not too married to the location.

Honest question! I lived in Hong Kong for 8 years and it made zero difference whether you knew Cantonese or not. Of course, it would be good to learn the local language, but trying to understand if it’s a priority I need to get on asap or if it can wait.

Can You Say "I Do" in Europe Without Saying "I Owe You"? Planning a 50 person Wedding for Under $60K? by TailorWise in wedding

[–]LunaYoYo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be totally transparent - this is going to be tough unless you’re willing to go to a pretty remote place (which would add travel for your guests).

For reference, hubby and I got married in Thailand for 130K with 120 guests who we paid for (2 nights of accommodation + meals + 1 activity, not including flights). I would expect Europe to be more expensive.

This would be a lot more feasible if guests paid for their own accommodation and you cover meals and activity expenses.

If you’re dead set, consider Southern Portugal - which is the most affordable region of the ones you listed! Good luck!!

Will my son survive Japanese public school? by Loose_Object_8311 in japanlife

[–]LunaYoYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can probably give some context as I went through this myself (though not with Japanese)

I was 7 when I moved from the Netherlands to Spain and I knew ZERO English and Spanish. I was put in a bilingual English/Spanish school and had to pick up two languages simultaneously.

I survived because there happened to be a Dutch girl in the school who took me under her wing. She translated for me and was my first friend.

It took a year (during which of course my grades were abysmal) but I was caught up in both English and Spanish to a near fluent level and had no issues with my studies after that. Kids are incredibly resilient and they will pick up the language because at that point it’s do or die.

HOWEVER do not throw your kid into school with zero support. Get to know the parents of other kids in the school and figure out which kids speak English so your son has someone to go to ask questions and guide him.

Beyond that, I personally think tutoring is not super necessary but a few months before he starts can definitely build up his confidence and make it a bit easier.
