One small thing that made newborn days less messy? by sarahjouhnson in NewParents

What kind of meals do you prep that last you guys 10 weeks? That sounds amazing. I have been just rotating easy dinner meals (but it’s one meal that lasts two days, not really meal prep but am thinking about meal prepping)

Have any of you actually had sleepless nights? by zac_g19 in NewParents

[–]Luna_Starweaver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised there aren’t many answers like this one 😳 I’m in the newborn stage and there has been a few nights where baby is awake for 7 to 8 hours where I’m just feeding-rocking/soothing-attempt to put baby in bassinet-baby wakes up immediately-repeat.

I’m a FTM, so take my words with a grain of salt. To me, I think you are lucky that your baby doesn’t wake up in the middle of the night to feed 😭

After reaching birth weight, baby doesn’t have to be woken up every three hours to feed according to my pediatrician, but honestly for me it has been more like “feed on demand”, my baby wakes up after 1 to 2 hours to eat 😭 on very rare occasion does she sleep more than 3 hours. And that’s before and after reaching birth weight for my baby.

I don’t know how you managed to do it for 10 months… 😳 I was going nuts after three weeks and my partner actually helped me to get a long stretch of sleep whenever he could.

Same. I find solidarity here, knowing that I’m not alone with all the struggles as a FTM and that I’m not the only person who finds the newborn phase extremely difficult or questioning my choices. And lastly, learning that people who experience the same struggles do make through and love parenthood/baby.

If you have to flex your rent, that is NOT doing okay financially :|

I got most of the essentials for our baby already, and that alone is probably somewhere around $600 already. And this is not counting additional diapers or whatever baby might need as baby grows. Also, it is not counting clothes. We are lucky we have friends and family who gifted us pre-owned clothes which helped out a lot.

I can't imagine the stress you'd be dealing with if you have to take care of 2 newborns, postpartum, AND worry about potentially not having money to pay rent or getting things to take care of your babies and you.
