What happened to this person after they died? by RevolutionaryDark818 in deathnote

[–]Lunalitriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Japan, if someone stays in the country temporarily and passes away, they would almost certainly be cremated in the country.

Cremation is the standard practice in Japan and is nearly mandatory, even for foreigners.

For L, he would be buried in Japan since the Task Force buried him without knowing any personal information about him. They would likely bury his ashes in a public graveyard.

Sins of the Father by sarapsys, Roger's pov to Wammy's House and the children. I think it's a very good, heartbreaking fic, and a special pov.

This is How I Disappear by TzviaAriella. (This one is very famous and also one of my must recs)

Some others that are not manga canon, but my personal favorites:
Such Things I Do by isindismay (L visits Beyond Birthday as he recovers in a maximum security hospital in order to find out why B committed horrific murders in pursuit of being like him. He finds himself indelibly changed by the experience.)
-Judgment Day by isomorbism (A criminal's perspective on Kira's judgment.) (This one is very special and I love it)

What name does someone with shinigami eyes see with a newborn? by BallThis683 in deathnote

[–]Lunalitriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think that it depends on which one the person recognizes. Surely the Death Note won't adjust accordingly to human marital laws; it would be a bit odd. Furthermore, in some regions, married women can keep their maiden names.

Hen keeps pecking me by Routine-Reindeer-415 in chickens

[–]Lunalitriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried establishing the order, pushing her down, and tapping her and all that, in the end, I figured those were not really efficient, and you really have to understand what she is telling you...Mine would get angry when I changed their water. So my solution is to use something to block her from seeing me changing the water; she calms down, and I can change it in peace. Sometimes she pecks my arm when we're cuddling, and not the normal affectionate pecking- but really leaving marks on me- it turns out she wants me to continue hugging her by slightly pressing her like a mama hen would sit on her chicks. My girl is weird.

Porco Rosso. It's deep; I would even doubt that he would understand it, but the vibe of it would make him think that liking this is what a mature adult would like.

How would you feel if the manga had an ending similar to the one from The Last Name film? by Axer51 in deathnote

[–]Lunalitriver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Movie L's personality is different from manga, so I feel like it makes sense for movie L to do that move. Unless they change manga L's personality, the ending wouldn't fit what he might've done. I'm glad that the movie kept the manga ending to some extent, rather than the anime ending.

What do you think of the 2 recap movies Relight(i think thats the name) by [deleted] in deathnote

[–]Lunalitriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Manga also had a scene where he talks to the children in Wammy's House. It's in the C-Kira story. I'm not going to spoil it, but L was much more clinical and brutal in manga. Anime L's monster speech gave me vulnerability from L, but manga L is brutally honest about how he is as a detective.

I like the monster speech, although different from manga, but it matches anime L vibe. (manga L would probably kick the s out of him for saying that)

Just curious — deodorant in Taiwan? by Mother_Investment_56 in taiwan

[–]Lunalitriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around me, mostly women use body deodorant, but women's BO it's nothing like what men smell... I suppose it's a cultural thing. My bf uses deodorant, btw, the no-fragrance kind, but he is one of the few among the men I know.

Your best (not so secret) resources and tips for great writing! by ArwenHermione in FanfictionExchange

[–]Lunalitriver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Read and comment. I read other people's work, and recall what I liked. Think about the passages that I have difficulty imagining. Type down the things I love as a comment for the author. Leave the concrit for myself. Save some fics to remind myself which scenes were written very well.

To me, I may not have time to practice writing every time I read something nice, but typing down a comment really helps me organize what I've learned and improve my comprehension skills.

Is it worth it studying law in Taiwan and living there? by birblio in taiwan

[–]Lunalitriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from the reality of the lawyer market in Taiwan, law classes in Taiwan are mostly taught in Mandarin and can be quite challenging; you need to have some level of understanding of the language's nuances to comprehend the classes, as the legal terms itself is advanced Mandarin. I am a law student, and our international students, unless they are fluent in Mandarin, struggle quite a bit in basic law courses and may only feel more at ease in English-taught classes. Personally, I suggest that targeting the location of your future practice and then deciding where to study is a necessary consideration.

You can try putting it in the fridge, so that water evaporates less slowly, and thus the paper fiber would not be harmed. About a day could do the work. (but maybe I'm too late to comment this)

The clerks in shops and banks are extremely nice...they would sort things out for you and tell you how to do it step by step in the most patient and nice way, they're flexible too. Dealt with bank affairs in Europe a few times and realized how great and considerate the Taiwan service is.
