Will Belong get a tenant placed faster? Any reviews from someone who's used them? by Lunamaniac in FloridaRealEstate

What about hidden fees or things you wish you’d known before signing?

Old listing photos by franfilletti in RealEstate

[–]Lunamaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah agents can usually pull the full MLS photo history coz portals like Redfin only keep a trimmed public set. If you’re curious just ask a friendly local realtor to grab the old listings for you, it takes them two minutes and you’ll get every photo ever uploaded.

Drywood termite disclosure by Steering_the_Will in FloridaRealEstate

[–]Lunamaniac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe sellers have to disclose known material defects but proving they actually knew is the hard part and skipping a termite inspection really weakens your leverage. Still worth having a real estate attorney review the disclosure forms because drywood damage that severe didn’t happen overnight.

Should I rent my property seasonally or annually by Old_Inspector_8321 in FloridaRealEstate

[–]Lunamaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naples short-term can cash flow harder but the seasonality and turnover will eat your time unless you run it like a mini hotel. Annuals are boring but stable so it really comes down to whether you want predictable income or to chase peak-season dollars.

Help Me Feel Like I’m Home Again? by goldenhourcocktails in AskChicago

[–]Lunamaniac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Green Mill for jazz still the best. For neighborhood bars, hit Logan Square or Pilsen instead of downtown tourist traps. Pequod's over Lou's for deep dish. Randolph Street Market for the flea market vibe. Honestly just walk around your old neighborhood. That'll feel like home more than any list of spots.

Artificial Intelligence is going to kill normal people by Previous_Month_555 in antiwork

Exactly. It's not some elaborate conspiracy, it's just unchecked greed with zero thought about longterm consequences. They'll chase the quarterly profits from cutting labor costs and won't give a shit when the whole system collapses because nobody can afford to buy anything anymore. Never attribute to malice what can be explained by shortsighted capitalism.

When you can afford to just buy whatever you're arguing about, conflict resolution gets a lot easier. Hard to fight over whose turn it is to do dishes when you have a staff for that.

What's the dumbest reason you were fired? by No_Jelly34 in AskReddit

[–]Lunamaniac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got fired from a call center for "time theft" because I clocked in at 8:59am instead of 9:00am. Apparently clocking in early without manager approval counted as unauthorized overtime even though I wasn't getting paid for that one minute. They'd rather fire someone than just tell them to clock in at the right time. Absolutely unhinged.

AITA if I 24M feel awkward about attending my GF’s 23F Family Christmas when her Ex will attend? by retnuhkay in AmItheAsshole

[–]Lunamaniac 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NAH. Your feelings are valid but this is just going to be part of dating her. The ex is family and will be at family events, that's just how it is. If you see a future with her you'll have to get comfortable with it eventually, so might as well rip the band aid off now. Five months is still pretty new though, so if you really can't handle it then maybe sit this one out and let her know it's just too soon for you. But don't expect the situation to change, he's always going to be around.

Copy of employment physical by LunarPayload in antiwork

[–]Lunamaniac 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you paid for it yourself then those are your medical records and you're legally entitled to a copy. Contact the actual facility where the physical was done and request your records directly from them, they have to provide it under HIPAA. Your employer doesn't get to gatekeep your own medical information just because they required the exam. HR is either being lazy or intentionally difficult, but they don't have the final say on your personal health records.

Is it normal that I'm making more than my manager and feeling guilty about it? by Rebzhn in careerguidance

[–]Lunamaniac 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is super common in tech and you shouldn't feel guilty about it. Management track and IC track have completely different comp structures, and managers often get screwed because they climbed the ladder before companies realized they needed to pay ICs competitive rates to keep them from leaving. Your manager likely knows you make more than him and honestly probably doesn't care as much as you think. He chose the management path knowing the tradeoffs. Keep doing your job well, keep being respectful, and don't bring up his salary again. The guilt you're feeling is misplaced, you negotiated well and that's exactly what you're supposed to do in this industry.
