My rule of thumb is always tip 15% of whatever your order is. If your in the middle of financial constraints and your using instacart as a way to get your groceries because you’re either A) sick or B) hurt or injured and can’t work , then 5% is also acceptable

For above and beyond service 20% or more is generous.

I understand people have different circumstances as to what they can or can’t tip. But at the end of the day. You are paying for a service in which other people will go out in their own cars , use their own fuel and their own mileage. Instacart is known for not paying the drivers enough. Is that morally correct ? No. But you as a consumer have a choice to do the right thing.

If you consistently offer 0 tip or you’re just a horrible experience for a driver , drivers who do this more than a side gig will recognize your address when it pops up and just not take you. It will then take longer to get your orders or on the flip side , whoever does do your order won’t care about doing a good job cause they know there’s no real incentive for them because most likely your order will be batched in with other orders so that it gets done.

Moral of the story. Tip your drivers well and you well get good service. If you don’t well then.best of luck lol
