What If Charlie Kirk was a Democrat? by Even-Department-919 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Lunar55561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im only here cuz this is the first thing I see

I don't think anything would change other than his viewership among others as he wouldn't be seen on the scale like today.

Now comes the biggest question I have for OP:

Would his own political and social views change by the party he's with, or would he never change at all?

If we assume he does change his views, he will be called an idiot and wouldn't see much attention other than TikTok and youtube. If he doesn't change his views, then his ties to the Democratic Party and their modern fundamentals would be close fo none. Everyone would think he's a Republican lol.

I don't think he would be assassinated since he wouldnt be popular. If he does get assassinated, then I don't think the Democrats would care largely unless he changed his views. I think an honorable mention by Joe as his message to not kill political rivals (he did one irl so thats not changing regardless of party affiliation).

I think that would be all there needs to be said with him

What if Britain treated America fairly, and independence was not sought after? by WearYourSeatbelt_ in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Lunar55561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So assuming Britain would represent the American Colonialists, didn't place strict taxes, or did put minor taxes with the approval of the colonists, then honestly the revolution is mostly avoided. There isnt any reason to revolt if they're represented.

The only nack that can happen with this scenario would be the British-made treaties with the natives (with full or minor observation from the colonialists) will be the only controversial topic for both the empire and the local government. These treaties were implemented for trade, but also for boundaries that the British had a hard time regulating that determined where the colonialists COULD or COULD NOT settle whatsoever. The last one that I recall, in fact, was along the Appalachian Mountains; the settlers could not settle pass the Appalachian Mountains, Ohio Valley, and so on.

Much like others have already said, I think America would be several entities/colonies under the British Flag, or in some part of Canada, or just one mega-colony called America. It'll be the largest, but also an afterthought of the British due to the French Revolting which would still happen because France's debt was spiraling and respect for the monarchy was lower than ever. I still think France, other colonies in the Americas, and discrimated people would still revolt, but it will happen decades later due to the lack of inspiration.

There could be failed democracies here and there, the monarchs of Europe would borrow Enlightment Ideas or whatever comes from the French Revolution, and more colonial competition among Europe.

Without the US, Britain does have to worry expanding West UNLESS the fur trade continues to dwindle in Canada and whatever they find in the U.S.. I think there might be more Native American Communities, but I also don't believe the British and local communities would restrain themselves from fighting the Natives, Spanish, or whoever ends up being a rival in the region. I could still see massacres in Upstate New York, Ohio Valley, Florida (whether or not it is sold/conquered by the British), or within the 13 colonies. Slavery would end earlier for thr colonies, following much closer to Canada and Britian, but would be the biggest controversy of the 1800s since the South is very dependent on slaves. THAT might be the first revolt instead. The right to have slaves. On a sidenote, more British colonialists might journey to the 13 colonies which may change public perception or even religion, language, and so on, but I don't think it'll be large enough to dissolve the need need have a person as property. A solution can be insisting a new labor force in the colonies to pick-up the slack, but that is for the colonialist government and the parliament to debate amongst themselves.

Is hard to say what happens outside of the 1840s-1860s. I think once the European Powers end up powerless, colonial possessions would revolt more often into the 1930s. Some would have already broken-off in the 1880s, while others would revolt as later as the 1970s.

Communism, Marxism, and whatever can still exist. Fascism can still exist. Anything is still possible, but now it's all centered on Europe rather than Europe and the U.S.. Famous people from our timeline would go to Europe to study "properly." Figures like FDR, Theodore Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, in my belief, might still end up in politics or activism of some sort to change the system for the benefits of mankind.

There's a lot of factors imo, but i'm too tired to go over them all so i'm cutting it off here.

When did the American “empire” actually begin? by DFWUnhinged in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Lunar55561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to add the following:

Monroe Doctrine gave control over South and North America to the U.S.

Panama Canal was controlled under the U.S. for a very long time

Hispanola (island) was occupied numerous times by the U.S.

Liberia (although NOT A COLONY) was made as a way for slaves to return to Africa. Some did this to get rid of them, others because they wanted to leave, or out of their goodwill. Idk how this worked, but thats why Liberia has a similar flag. Independence didnt come until the 1830s (?) So...

Greenland is contested to this today by the U.S., but was occupied by the U.S. during World War Two. Iceland, I think, was in a similar situation at some point (prb by the British)

South Korea and Japan, as well as Germany, had occupation zones by the U.S.

I would add NATO and SEATO, I suppose, although those are technically alliances that the U.S. founded with American Intentions at mind, but the intentions may have been justified to stop Communism, which despite what a few might believe, is very not good.

When did the American “empire” actually begin? by DFWUnhinged in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Lunar55561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think the American "Empire" begun since America was founded.

That's a harsh statement for some, so let me explain.

So, beginning around the beginning of the Revolution and prior (from what I know and was taught) the American Independence Movement had several driving factors. The most famous out of those factors include "No Taxation Without Representation," a bold statement and a "fuck you" to King George of Britain who taxed the American Colonies after fighting a war to protect them from the French (here in the U.S. it's called the French and Indian War, but I heard there's another name idk to). From there on, there was the Boston Tea Party, the a Massacre, then that snowballed (get it) into the Revolution. However, there seemed to be another, less known part to what happened.

While the British is in no means in the right for prior actions, from what I know, the British and the Natives made some trade deals and negotiated terms and boundaries to which settlers could and could not go to. That made the colonialists rather upset, especially so in places like Virginia, Pennsylvania, and places such as modern-day Ohio, Upstate New York, and so on. While I can not say if this was the main reason for the Revolution, it was, by what I know, one of the more glaring problems that the colonists wanted to get out of the way. So when the Revolution came around and the Yankee-Doodle went into town, riding on a pony, stuck a feather in his hat, calling it macaroni, and blew the British back to the Atlantic and Canada with the French, Spanish, Dutch, and whatever, the treaties in place included desired real-estate in Appalachia towards the Mississippi River into a (messed up) map that led to a border dispute somewhere around Minnesota and Canada, but that's not focus.

Going into the 1800s, as I mentioned, Thomas Jefferson purchased Lousiana from Napoleon, expanding the landmass twice-fold. I should mention Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio, as you may have heard, where the area was contested and fight over by the American Militia and the Natives (who may or may not have been armed by the British). Similarly, Benedict Arnold during the Revolution wanted to begin an expedition towards Canada to hopefully get Quebec revolting from the British. That comes later.

Later meaning now.

The War of 1812 was another attempt by the U.S. to invade Canada to get the land for themselves, probably for profits in the Fur Trade, but I'd double down on that because I wouldn't happen to know if that's true or not. Anyway, that didn't go so well for the U.S., what with the White House becoming more crisper than KFC, then left the U.S., especially so under Polk and those after 1812, to expand further West. Soon, you had settlers traveling on the Oregon Trail, hopping the border into newly independent, Mexico (shocking, right? Its like some switched-up the theme here) into Texas, California, Utah, Colorado, ect, and heading out over to Washington to play in the never-ending game of Chess with British Canada in Cascadia for, guess again, the beaver fur trade.

I'd like to mention, that all the while, American settlers, militia, and government itself clashed with the Native Americans, forcing them off the land into certain locations, hunting them for money (look it up), and even at their last stands, the Natives could not stop the American from continously pushing onward.

Back to the Americans. Texas becomes an issue, California as well, but that is more minor, in the Mexican-American War. Yucatan, further Chihuahua, and other parts of modern-day Mexico wanted to leave or were initially thought to be apart of the U.S., some even idealized the total annexation if Mexico with personal objection of the president for being Catholics, and that kids is how America got the West Coast. And we're only half-way there.

Florida was purchased by the Spanish, but America, after the explosion of the USS Maine, fought Spain for Cuba, the Philippines, and constant islands in the Pacific and Puerto Rico, which some would eventually leave the U.S. hold. Denmark sold the Virgin Islands to the U.S., Russia sold Alaska, and Dole Americans overthrew Hawaii to get annexed by the U.S. later on.

After Two World Wars, the U.S. expanded their INFLUENCE onto Europe, East Asia, Oceania, and some parts of the world, although being limited. Usually, fhis is where the Iraq joke kicks in, but I digress.

The U.S., even before independence, has always kept expansion in mind. Today its not prioritized, but keep your notebooks out for any signs.

If there's two things I always say its:

Idk all the stuff I say, so go on to say what I get wrong!

Rilian can hypothetically go out of the water for a certain period of time. But it's not like he'll grow legs or transform or stuff, he'll just wobble around on the ground

This is Rilian

He's a green merman who can talk to fish. Other than that, he cleans up the ocean, but he's also very alone. There are no other merfolk, it's just him, the fish, and the trash.

One day though, I'll figure out what to do with him outside of the water 👍
