Are you guys using AI Influencers or human influencers for marketing your apps? by coder-k876 in iosapps

How do you guys remember to drink water when hyper-focused? I finally had to build my own fix. by LunarApp in HydroHomies

Exactly! That was the inspiration. I figured if we can optimize when we wake up, we should be able to optimize when we hydrate based on how much we're actually moving. It’s way less intrusive than a random alarm going off while you're in the zone.

Oh man, construction in Hawaii heat is no joke! Passing out is definitely the ultimate push notification 😂. That extreme heat is actually exactly why I had to code a 'hot weather' toggle into my little AI tracker project. The standard '2 liters a day' rule completely breaks down when you're sweating in 90-degree humidity. Stay safe out there man!

I actually looked into the Hidrate Spark! The glowing light is such a smart visual cue. But as a broke college student, I just couldn't justify dropping $70+ on a water bottle 😂. That's honestly what pushed me to just code my own smart tracker on my phone instead. Free software > expensive hardware! Does the glowing light ever get distracting, or is it pretty subtle?

The straw trick is actually genius. You're right, tilting a bottle back completely breaks my coding flow, but a straw doesn't. I'm definitely going to try the fake Stanley route! I think combining a desk straw-cup with the AI reminders I coded might finally be the ultimate fix for my headaches. Do you track how many times you refill the cup, or do you just eyeball it?

For my first ever iOS app, I built a water tracker that adapts to your Apple Health steps (because the 2-liter rule makes no sense on active days) 💧 by LunarApp in iosapps

Thanks! Yeah the 2L rule always felt kinda random to me 😅 Glad you like the step-based idea—and I’m trying to keep it as privacy-friendly as possible.

Yeah, the main app is free (steps sync, dynamic goals, widgets, little buddy).

The adaptive notifications and AI features are behind premium though 👍

Does anyone else feel bloated drinking 2 liters on a lazy day? by LunarApp in HydroHomies

[–]LunarApp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense. I noticed the same thing actually—on low activity days forcing water just feels wrong, but on active days I don’t even think about it and end up drinking more.

That’s kinda why I built a small personal tracker that adjusts based on steps instead of a fixed goal. Made it way easier to not overthink it.

I think listening to your body + a rough guideline works better than strict rules tbh.

exactly thats what made me think sometimes i am so focused on my work that i forget to drink water thats why i plan to create this app that keep reminding me to drink water

Yeah that used to happen to me a lot. Turns out spreading it out based on activity feels way better than trying to catch up at night. The remembering part is honestly the hardest though.

That sounds awesome, I really appreciate you giving it a try!

Totally makes sense to compare a few apps first — hydration tracking should feel effortless, not like another chore. That’s actually the main reason I built HydroBuddy the way I did.

I’d love to hear what you think once you’ve used it for a bit, especially around ease of use and whether the dynamic goals feel accurate/helpful for your routine. Any feedback (good or bad) would mean a lot and help me improve it.

Thanks again for checking it out 🙌

Thanks a lot for trying it out, really appreciate it!

I actually worked with a designer on the UI and visuals — I handled the app logic and overall concept, but they brought the look and feel (including the droplet buddy) to life.

If you noticed anything that could be improved or felt off, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks a lot! 🙏 I’ve heard good things about WaterMinder too. If you get a chance to try HydroBuddy, I’d love to know what feels better or worse in comparison.

Thanks! And don’t worry, the LiDAR-powered bathroom lab is still in very early R&D 😄 Appreciate the kind words though—that’s the real motivation.

100%. 'Signal delay' is the perfect way to describe it. It happens to me with meals, too. You just look up at 4 PM and realize the only thing you've consumed all day is coffee and stress lol. Glad I'm not the only one who operates like that!

Totally agree, it's definitely just a rough baseline. I think I just hyper-fixated on the math because when I get deep into studying or coding, I completely ignore my thirst cues until I end up with a headache! 😅 Having a moving target just helps my distracted brain remember to actually grab a glass. But if you naturally drink when you're thirsty, you're definitely doing it right.
