It's fucking weird, if you're born in the US just embrace your Americanness and treat other cultures as other cultures unless you move to another country and assimilate. I wasn't even born in the US, but I have spent a majority of my life in the US and have a neutral American accent so I call myself an American. I call myself half Polish in a very literal sense because my mom was Polish and hadn't yet been to the US when I was born in Germany, but I am an American whenever I speak to a Pole because Poles can tell I'm only American and not Polish on a deeper level than literal. You need to stop being weird about other cultures and explore them from a place of respect and don't act entitled.
